The alternative proposals look better every day, but the inertia of this project has been substantial. The Tilikum multimodal transit bridge cost ~$178M in todays dollars (roughly adj. for inflation). So we're looking at about 42 Tilikum bridges

Homelessness is a housing problem. When the median rent of a city is high, and the vacancy rate is low, homelessness will be higher. Create more housing, alleviate these conditions. It's pretty simple! Excellent work from @ColburnGregg & @compatibilism

Heavy cars are far more dangerous in a crash with other vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians and they cause substantially more wear and tear on roads. And with EVs being (currently) heavier and not paying gas tax this type of tax helps offset that imbalance.

I think this is my key distinction too. It may well survive, but we don't really know if the ~1000 (or whatever staffing number) who can run it are those who are staying. We'll find out. However, long term damage to the trust of advertisers may be what unwinds it long term.

I walk leisurely into my office at the Consumer Protection Department and take a big sip from my fresh cup of coffee. I then turn to the huge dial on my desk labeled REGULATION and flip it from "do more stuff" to "do less stuff" before breaking for an early lunch.
