To me the cross represents the first two commandments. Vertical is first commandment to love God and horizontal is second commandment to love our neighbors. Also, a cross is an unconscious symbol of acknowledgment of Christianity and as a Christian I would likely be more open to the person wearing it. I am a convert and never understood why the LDS angst over wearing a cross.

Yes, it makes me weary of extending the olive leaf. But, being kind allows me to meet the most fascinating and humble people. Really…make the first step towards kindness. Inquire, be interested, show empathy. You will often receive way more than your initial little curious inquiry prompted in the first place. People are amazing.
