@dweekly Voice recognition has quantum leapt forward since the days of barking "Dee. Eye. Are. Enter." into a plastic headset. But I think we need another quantum tech leap before voice interactions will be reliably natural and conversational.

@NerdPyle Old one, but by far my most embarrassing: accidentally turned my company desktop into an open e-mail relay. Spammers promptly found & abused it. Overwhelmed our corporate mail server, which paged entire IT team at 2am. Sheepish explanations and apology donuts for all!

@nanahg3 My favorite are the companies who can somehow send you advertising e-mails three minutes after your first order with them, but mysteriously, unsubscribing can “take up to 14 days to process”.

When you unsubscribe from getting marketing email from a company. And you get an email confirming you unsubscribed. #facepalm

@ahpook WideProtect app does exactly this thing. "Block numbers starting with..." Has exceptions for numbers in your contacts. Tiny bit clunky to set up, but has worked well for me.

I've gotten 10 of those spam calls that spoof your area code and first 3 digits, randomize the last four. Any way to block these pre-emptively? I don't know _anyone_ with my same area code/prefix so the whole range could be blocked.

@cryptoskunks Once would have stood beside you on that hill, but it's baffling that "request" and "question" are usable as both verbs and nouns, while using "ask" as a noun is grammatically incorrect. Seems like one of those arcane "just because" rules that makes English harder to learn.

I hate "what is your passion / what do you want to do" questions. It's a big world, and I'm a curious guy. My only abiding passion is maintaining the freedom to dabble. I do learn from it: I find "what do you *not* want to do again" questions to be very easy to answer!

Twitter seems to have improved controls for phone notifications, so I have warily unblocked it/them. Feels like letting a crazy ex back in my life. “I want to believe you have changed, but I swear... if I see even one “Trending tweets” notification, we are done! You hear me?”
