Credits to @harivignz for this write up Many thinks this is just politics evolving with technology where old parties had newspapers, TV channels, posters, and cadres; now it’s Instagram, YouTube, X, reels, and meme pages. But that’s exactly where most people misunderstand the scale of what’s happening. I’ll exaplin it simply : Social media campaigning is not real concern. It’s legal, and every political movement will naturally use the dominant communication medium of its era. The real problem is that old street-level engagement wars have now evolved into scalable algorithmic systems,recommendation algorithms, and AI-driven narrative manipulation. 𝗠𝗢𝗗𝗘𝗟 𝟭 : THE #EngagementWar Thousands of coordinated or #FakeAccounts with different names are used not just for promotion, but to control online discourse itself. True #Journalists , opposition voices, and fact-checkers get flooded with mass replies, identical comments, AI images & #GIFs , and harassment swarms within minutes. Thier goal is not to prove something true. The goal is to just exhaust the current discussion until questioning becomes impossible. In research, this is called #CoordinatedInauthenticBehavior (CIB) manipulating public perception through organized digital networks at scale. 𝗠𝗢𝗗𝗘𝗟 𝟮 : The Influence #SaaS This is the next stage of #ComputationalPropaganda . What is now handled by political IT cells can eventually become a subscription-based industry. Startups can sell complete “campaign-in-a-box” systems combining AI-generated content, #FakeEngagement networks, behavioral targeting, #bot amplification, trend manipulation, and propaganda dashboards. What could this cost society in the future? 1. Genuine journalism and fact-checkings get buried under coordinated noise and troll attacks. 2. Young voters become easier to psychologically influence through entertainment-driven propaganda. 3. #FakeNarratives spread faster than truth because algorithms reward engagement not accuracy. 4. People stop voting based on ideologies , policy and start voting based on emotional manipulation. 5. Society becomes permanently #Polarized because every group lives in a different digital reality.

And in the final stage, they weaponize mass-reporting and Restricting the accounts to silence opposing voices online.

It was one of the most sophisticated #SocialEngineering operations deployed on an Indian electorate. 5.73 crore voters. 85.1% turnout. 14.59 lakh first-time voters. 1.19 crore voters aged 18–29. Record turnouts are beautiful. But if opinions are shaped inside invisible #echo_chambers, #EngineeredNarratives, and entertainment designed to bypass critical thinking, can high turnout alone be called a healthy #Democracy?
