Handheld radio, powered by Starlink... L3Harris has unveiled the XL-300P, the first P25 land mobile radio with native 5G and satellite direct-to-device (D2D) connectivity. It will support Starlink via T-Mobile's "T-Satellite" service, it guarantees first responders ultimate triple-layered redundancy (P25, cellular, satellite) so they never lose critical communications.

Mmmm…my wife’s side of the workshop vs my side of the workshop. I can see at least two radios, a workbench, a lathe and multiple antennas on my side that I *really* want to use…but I’m being told I can’t cherry pick items, I need to tidy it all up😱😭

Seriously considering getting a high performance tabletop receiver. My first choice is Icom R8600 which is based on SDR architecture. It covers up to 3GHz, and uses direct sampling for HF.

Web-based control for the IC-7300 The idea is to leave an old Raspberry Pi permanently connected to the radio. Then, all you need is a web browser and you're ready to DX For now it does CW (including decode) and SSB. Special thanks to my friend Claude who did all the hard work

design peaked here - then we forgot about it or somehow decided it’s not worth it ! Plus cheaper “uninteresting” boxes offered much better performance. But knobs and buttons add a totally different feel. debate!
