This shot of a Marsh Harrier hunting above the reed beds was taken at @NWTCleyCentre on a cold Octobers day from the Bishop's Hide.

Great to see both of the barn owls out last night. They are really making themselves at home in my nature area in the paddocks.

Magic to see the Glossy Ibis fly in full view in front of Lyle Hide today at @WWTWelney The Glossy Ibis was formerly a rare vagrant, but is now a scarce resident and potential breeder at many southern locations.

Infrared video from one of my wildlife cameras in the paddocks near the Barn Owl Box. With these cameras and observations from my hide I have been able to log movements from the nestbox and therefore position the cameras accordingly. Fascinating stuff.

Photographed at Lyndford Arboretum, Thetford February 2026. The Yellowhammer was formerly a common bird of the wider countryside with its “little bit of bread and no cheese” song. They have undergone a 54% population decline between 1970 and 2015.

Happy Christmas everyone. Fieldfare, a winter visitor, photographed at RSPB Nene Washes a couple of weeks ago.

I love observing Barn Owls and often follow them hunting for field voles and mice. I was lucky to get this image at RSPB Bempton Cliffs in North Yorkshire back in May this year. The Barn Owl just is about to swoop into the grass for a meal to take back to the nest for the chicks.

Managed to get some great shots of the Bearded Tit at RSPB Ouse Fen on Thursday whilst searching for the Penduline Tit. The extraordinary colours, shape and calls of this small, reed-dwelling bird are quite unlike any other British species.

The Golden Plover is arguably one of the most beautiful birds of upland Britain. In winter they can form large flocks in coastal areas and this photograph was taken last month at @RSPBTitchwell where the winter light really brings out the splendid colours.

A visit to the RSPB Nene Washes where there were three short eared owls roosting in a bush last Friday. Lovely birds and quite my favourite owl.

It's Snow Bunting time! This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago on the beach at RSPB Titchwell Marsh. Lovely pretty birds that are energetic but happy to be approached and not at all skittish. The snow bunting is a sparrow-sized bird that winters in the UK around the coast.

Photograph of a Stonechat taken on 17th October at @NWTCleyCentre Cley Marsh, Norfolk. They are Robin-sized birds and as its name suggests these birds utter a sharp loud call that sounds like two stones being tapped together.

Ospreys eat fish, catching them in spectacular fashion as they dive towards lakes and lochs, stretch out their talons and scooping them out of the water with ease. Photo taken at @RutlandWaterNR this week at Manton Bay.

Photographed at @RutlandWaterNR Manton Bay yesterday where the star Osprey pair female Maya and male 33(11) have bred together since 2015 and have raised 20 chicks during that time. A fantastic bird to watch in the air so get along there before the end of summer.

WOW! What a day today photographing Ospreys at @RutlandWaterNR. Right place and right time! I managed to capture some fantastic shots of the Ospreys catching fish, feeding the young and flying in full sight. No doubt there will be more images to follow.

Another shot of the water vole at RSPB Fowlmere from earlier this month. Water voles occur mainly along well vegetated banks of slow flowing rivers, ditches, dykes and lakes. They are sometimes confused with brown rats which often also live near water courses.

Like many of our farmland birds, the yellowhammer has declined in number in recent years. I managed to capture this bird singing the familiar 'a little bit of bread and no cheese' song from the top of a bush at @RSPBFowlmere. Wonderful bird, always one of my favourites.

The Bell UH-1 Huey and Cessna Bird Dog were aircraft that played a major part in the Vietnam war rescuing and spotting downed airmen amongst other duties. The aircraft were demonstrated to the full at the Shuttleworth Festival of Flight on Sunday 30 June 2024.
