How sad it is that we can stand before great wonders and feel nothing.

@elonmusk Seeing is not believing. Believing is seeing. We see what we want to see, because what we believe has the power to change what we see.

In the first 34 years of my life, I wrote 0 books. In the last 13 years I’ve written 10 books. What changed? Lots. One thing that really helped was that I learned how to apply my imagination to my creativity, instead of my anxiety.

I’ve been in a rut this week. Uninspired, unmotivated, bad workouts. But I’ve been around long enough to know that it will pass. This is when it’s important to have routines—to just do the work and trust the process. As Stephen King said: “Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.” I didn’t feel like lifting today. But I got up and lifted.

@hanslorei Struggled with this for the longest time, and some days, still do. But yes, it’s liberating!

Recently figured out you don’t have to finish every book. Skim, find the juicy, take what’s impactful & move on. Has been liberating!

Ever caught yourself missing something important because you got distracted by something else? It’s rarely by chance. In an attention economy, it’s by design.

An important (and perhaps timely) reminder: Of all the principles of deception a magician uses, misdirection is the most effective and we aren’t the only vocation using it. Pay attention to what you’re paying attention to.

@craigmlove I’ve never been a coffee drinker. Have never had it other than tasting my grandmother’s as a kid and hated it. Admittedly, it has made avoidance easier. The book “Why We Sleep” and how adenosine works in the body is a convincing case for a no-caffeine life.

@HarrisIII That makes sense. As a coffee dependent person I always doubt that natural energy or focus matches caffeine energy and focus.

@craigmlove 99%, yes. With few exceptions, one of which is if I need to stay safe like a late night drive, in which I’ll have a little caffeine. Benefits: Saves money. More natural energy. No addiction, which=more freedom. Ability to function + create when others “haven’t had their coffee.”

@HarrisIII Are you alcohol + caffeine free? If so, what benefits do you see from not having caffeine?

You could be better off than 90% of the world by doing 2 things 1. Eating right & exercising daily 2. Spending less than you make What’s a simple #3 that would put you at 99%?
