i don’t know if y’all are aware but venezuelans are quite literally being targeted, attacked and persecuted for posting online about the situation in their country. there is a big number of missing people, including minors, and some others that have been taken out their own homes

A lot of Genshin players don’t understand what goes into making a game. What it takes to implement something, to change it after the fact, etc. So let us tell you as game devs: Changing the Natlan characters’ skin color postlaunch would be piss fucking easy.

i think appropriation is often misunderstood. sometimes people have an affinity for a culture that isn't their own and find themselves wanting to participate in it. i don't find anything wrong with that assuming they're genuinely just wanting to partake in something that's foreign to them in a way that's honorable. but going to a country/culture for inspiration for your game design & seeing all the beautiful things about that culture, then going back to the office and taking all the beautiful material things from that culture and leaving behind the people is flat out wrong. you've completely missed the mark in paying homage to that country. you've actually dishonored those countries, & more importantly it's people, by essentially saying "everything about your culture is beautiful and would look great in our game... except you." i can tell you with confidence that we were not created one better than the other, anybody who tells you such is wrong. and the subtext in these decisions definitely implies such. we gotta be better @GenshinImpact Imago Dei.
