@captainfossil @slothgirlmel @amjukar @DrPardi I could eat Skyline daily but yes, there are other good things to check out in Cincinnati (including some independent chili parlors). Taft's Ale House is cool, Jungle Jim's out in the burbs, this restaurant we used to go to in an old schoolhouse, etc. Happy to host folks!

With announcements going out for #2023SVP it's time to start scoping out places to go with my #TasteBuds even though last year will be hard to top with @slothgirlmel and @captainfossil

@crowan76 @JamesSACorey Seveneves by Neal Stephenson is the obvious choice to me if you haven’t already read it. A book I kind of sort of want a sequel to but am also so happy with what it did give us in terms of story and world building.

@haupt @JamesSACorey I just finished it too was a great read - not sure what I’ll do now!

I worked really hard this year to rediscover my love of reading after grad school broke it (a problem I’ve heard a lot of other folks have) but I read my yearly goal of 12 books so I’m going to punt on this question and instead write a thread on my books of the year (tomorrow)

Alright - what's the best book you read this year and why?

@asher_elbein Cochineal as a historical dye literally came up in conversation a few days after I finished the story and I was delighted to explain why that had recently been on my mind.

Oh yeah, I'm on @goodreads if you're into that: goodreads.com/user/show/3073…
