They dropped so many bombs on Gaza and released over 30 million tonnes of CO2. There's also the data centers, one of them reportedly releasing 23 atomic bombs worth of heat into the atmosphere. We are also razing forests faster than we can regrow them.

@haushaunted @asubparusername you guys blew this out of proportion and it’s the main topic on everyone’s tl now. you cannot complain that ppl are still engaging in the discussion. i wish it actually dies now so ppl can talk about actual pressing issues affecting the PH. (pax silica, balikatan exercises, etc)

every time we have this discourse people try to both sides it when ultimately people are just mad at a guy for doing his job and making an innocuous tweet about it cause they don’t know what ‘develop’ means. they’re not upset, they’re crybullies and you’re running cover for them.

the argument isn’t about semantics. people who don’t live in the ph/not filipinos are hellbent on making it out like the people yelling at this guy don’t know what one word means when they don’t realize we have pattern recognition for events like this that part of our culture-

@asubparusername they keep moving the goalposts after being explained to. they want to keep finding malice and fault that aren’t there in the first place, so frustrating. im filipino btw & when i first saw the tweet i just saw a guy who was just happy to share what he did at work.

@riiriisyu that's why i said na hindi dapat yung semantics yung pinagtuunan. naka-base sa sequence of events. he developed his recipe with the help of filipino chefs and even sourced from ph suppliers, but it wasn't in the og tweet. lumabas nalang after he was questioned and got pushback,

OP was also certainly not short of characters in the og tweet seeing that it’s easy to write “filipino” right after “vegan”. that could have changed the situation. while i don’t think dogpiling on him was great, the reaction from every other person was superrrr weirddddd

@1192ssss i made a detergent and bathing soap out of the fruit of a fruit-bearing tree native only to the islands of masbate and visayas at 15 based off the oral history of our elders. that soap remains to be used by my community today to cure heat rash among children sooooooo 😚

Which to his credit he already did in his replies. He credited the local filipino kitchen and filipino purveyors he worked with. All good

@riiriisyu i wrote the first line because i don’t think either side should focus on “develop” ≠ “invent” kasi ako, never ko naisip na he wants to steal ube ice. i just recognized what this can look like, on top of him not even crediting who he worked with for his recipe to come to fruition

@riiriisyu honestly i get it. malay ko rin ba papatok tong tweet na to. ofc galit kasi nakikita na kung paano naguumpisa yung pag-gentrify. sa Salem, MA naka-base si mr ice cream man, ang konti ng filipinos dun. hindi pa nga niya inaming nagpatulong siya sa pinoy until yung outrage.

@haushaunted If he doubled down and went "this is my recipe, it has nothing to do with Filipino culture, fuck them" then ok yeah but he clarified over and over. If it's ok to do as long as it's credited...he did!
