@xv_bams yeah i can also say it’s definitely not exclusive to just music either, you see it in fashion, product, graphics. its kinda exciting in a way, anticipating when something will break the cycle.

@haw__y i see what you mean, yea ngl i think you’re onto something, it could just be a mixture of so many different factors converging to make a seriously unpleasant landscape for artistic expression

like in the 80’s everything sounded like the future, music was synth heavy, people were experimenting w shit like gated reverb, but now most things are comparable to things we’ve heard before, there isn’t much discovery or innovation, that can’t be simple coincidence

@xv_bams exactly what i was getting at, technological advancement in modern day being mainly ai-driven also creates a stigma around how it can be used creatively, but even then all ai does is draw from the past come to think of it, so it furthers what you were saying

@haw__y i think possibly but relatively speaking the 80’s and 90’s experienced technological evolution in overdrive, if anything from what we can physically see in consumer technology now every advancement feels minuscule
