The easiest way to add dark mode to any website: @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) { :root { --bg: #1a1a2e; --text: #e0e0e0; } } Use CSS custom properties + this media query. Respects user's system preference automatically. Zero JavaScript. 🌙

Practical implications: • Long-running sync code blocks EVERYTHING (UI freezes) • Use Web Workers for CPU-heavy tasks • Promises always execute before setTimeout • requestAnimationFrame runs before next paint Understanding this = understanding JavaScript. Period. 🧠

What happens when you run this? console.log('1'); setTimeout(() => console.log('2'), 0); Promise.resolve().then(() => console.log('3')); console.log('4'); Output: 1, 4, 3, 2 Why? Microtasks (Promises) run BEFORE macrotasks (setTimeout).

The most expensive bugs in history: • Mars Climate Orbiter ($327M) - metric vs imperial units • Knight Capital ($440M) - deployed old code, lost money in 45 minutes • Ariane 5 ($370M) - integer overflow crashed a rocket • Y2K bug ($300B+ to fix worldwide) Tests are cheap.

JavaScript: The 'structuredClone' function exists now. Deep copy ANY object: const copy = structuredClone(original); ✅ Handles nested objects ✅ Handles Maps, Sets, Dates ✅ Handles circular references ❌ Doesn't copy functions Stop using JSON.parse(JSON.stringify()).

Simple framework for making tech decisions: 1. Will it matter in 5 years? → Use battle-tested tech 2. Is it a prototype? → Use whatever ships fastest 3. Is the team small? → Choose simplicity 4. Is the team big? → Choose type safety Context > hype. Every time. 🎯

Zod is the best validation library in 2026. Change my mind. const UserSchema = z.object({ name: z.string().min(2), email: z.string().email(), age: z.number().min(18) }); type User = z.infer<typeof UserSchema>; Validation + TypeScript types from ONE source.
