Think we've reached the point where it's more of a flex to have a crappy old car than a shiny new one. Shows you have your priorities straight. I work in car insurance and can confirm that the vast, vast majority of people with fancy cars have them on ludicrous finance deals

@AvonandsomerRob On the surface it may appear that way but you dont know about that family they may have had skin cancer etc or just being cautious. Its not really a problem or anyone else's business

@pipterino Thats because we live in the 21st century now and instead of pretending these things dont happen or by calling it other names . My 86 yr old relative had hrt and life was very difficult for her. She had a good Dr who recognised it and helped. How about some empathy.

@atGoldenValley A ha my dog will bark at anyone and anything ! He's in and out ,hes prob on the sofa now. My Lurcher that I lost last year would lie there by the doors for hours in the sun . If she got a bit chilly she come and lie next to me in my workshop.

Talking of #insectageddon, at the W/E I was back where I grew up in SE Herts. One of the most startling changes in urban landscape in the last 30 years is the creation of off-road parking. Across the UK hundreds of thousands of front gardens must have disappeared under asphalt.

@snapgreenben @urbanponds101 And causes more water runoff that contributes to flooding. When I moved here every garden was open and grass and trees now most are paved over with fences and walls between. We have a gorgeous beech hedge on our boundary the birds love it .

@urbanponds101 My vegetable garden weeps seeing this. Every paved patch steals homes from bees and locks up carbon in concrete. Devastating loss, yet we keep fighting for every urban green pocket.

Three gardens lost. Two trashed and one paved over. I’ve shared picture of these lovely gardens in the past. I appreciate people’s circumstances/needs change, but still, so depressing

@urbanponds101 Our neighbours completely paved over the garden to make a drive. They park on the road 🤦‍♀️ . other side cut down trees as soon as they moved in said they didnt like trees. They are in the on the village bloom group. The irony.

@hbceramic @TheBossnME My neighbours cut down a large apple tree as soon as they moved in. When I asked why they said 'It drops apples everywhere'.

Anyone else feel immense anger when someone decimates an established tree, hedge, shrub, or similar? 🤔 My neighbour did this yesterday to a Cotoneaster. Established way over 20 years. The pigeons and other birds sat on it and ate the berries. We live among absolute nutters.

The competition between some (not all) of the @BBCr4today presenters to see who can be rudest and smart-arsest with government ministers (though rarely Farage and Co) might be one of the reasons they are losing so many listeners. @patmcfaddenmp did well there not to say “if it’s so f-ing easy why don’t you give it a go one day Amol?” Also wonder whether the “morning ministerial round” has had its day. Pat better than most at covering all issues but often such a waste of time to have Minister for X answering Qs on issues ABCD and E (usually what’s big in the right wing rags) followed by one Q on the thing they actually know about.

I bought sweet peas last weekend but I only have this left. I added a little flower. Maybe it looks better again💜Good night, world.
