you started with how SB19's performance lacked pinoy representation, then suddenly it's about their fandom set your expectations high. ano ba talaga?
if some fans acted arrogantly or set unrealistic expectations for you, then that's another issue entirely. that might explain why you expected more, but it doesn't support your claim that the performance lacked pinoy representation. huwag mong gawing basis yung issue mo sa fandom para i-criticize yung performance, bc those are two completely different conversations.
and yes, your opinion is subjective. mine is too. but saying "it's subjective" doesn't really address the point i raised. i'm not questioning whether you're allowed to have an opinion, i'm questioning the reasoning behind it.

Again,what can I do? It’s their fandom who set my expectations too high after ridiculing other OPM artists over their “high standards.” At what point did I bash sb19? I’m not gonna lie just to feed anyone’s ego or agree with your low understanding of what a subjective opinion is.

so how did we even get here? i was talking about SB19's performance at lolla and why i thought the criticism against it was unfair. had i thought the criticism was valid, i wouldn't have said anything. but it wasn't, so i responded to that, nothing more.
i'm not here to keep score between fandoms, nor do i care enough to argue about who started what. frankly, that's the least interesting part of this conversation.

this is probably the first time i've defended a group i'm not even deeply invested in.😆 i don't usually feel the need to jump into these conversations, but i do when i feel like a point being made is unfair, too forced, and doesn't really reflect the full picture. bc regardless of whether someone is a fan or not, SB19 is a group that deserves credit. they're great artists. they know what they're doing, they're intentional with their craft, and they consistently deliver quality performances. even as a casual listener, that much is clear.

menyayangkan tillie yg selalu maksain mainin starter itu itu aja sampe main fullset 5x berturut-turut. meskipun ada rotasi in the middle of the game, aku rasa itu aja ga cukup. jadwal vnl yang gila ini emang harus diseimbangi sama management pemain yg baik.

Their undefeated run surely added more pressure but hey, no one expected them to do that but they still did - as a team.
Among all things considered, what I love the most in this year's VNL run is that the second stringers kept the team alive in most of the matches. It really took a whole team to get those big wins and that speaks for something. They might be short of a medal for this year, but that is still a massive improvement from their disappointing results a year ago.
Let's keep improving, RJN 👏🫡

casual listener din naman ako, which is why i find this argument weird. the setlist was literally designed to reach people beyond the fandom. they performed some of their biggest, most accessible songs instead of filling the set with deep cuts that only fans would know. that's literally how you introduce yourself at a festival.
as for the costumes, lollapalooza isn't a costume competition. most artists perform in outfits that let them move comfortably bc the focus is the live performance. i'd rather watch a group deliver live vocals and own the stage than rely on flashy outfits to make an impression.
at isa pa, wag na tayong mag lokohan gamit yang "as a casual" card. kasi pag chineck naman ang account, very obvious na may iba kang mas pinapaboran. wala namang masama don, pero don't act like you're coming from a completely neutral standpoint. if you're gonna critique, at least be upfront about where you're coming from. otherwise, ang dating tuloy, hindi ka na nag-a-assess ng performance, parang naghahanap ka na lang ng anggulo para i-downplay yung achievement nila.

Nakikinig rin naman ako ng mga kanta nila. Pero as a casual, medyo underwhelming yung naging performance nila for me knowing na sila yung unang Filipino na nagperform dun.

SB19 spent almost an hour performing mostly filipino songs on one of the biggest music festivals in the world. their styling even incorporated indigenous-inspired elements as a tribute to filipino culture. ano 'to, kailangan ba nilang mag bahag at mag-kutsinta on stage para lang masabi ninyong may representation?
they proudly stood on that stage as a filipino group.
THAT IS ALREADY A REPRESENTATION.
hindi yan nasusukat lang sa dami ng cultural references na kaya mong isiksik sa isang set, kundi sa kakayahan mong dalhin ang sariling musika sa global stage and prove that it belongs there.
also, this is lollapalooza. baka nakakalimutan niyo kung anong klaseng event 'to. it's a global music festival that brings together ppl from different countries and musical backgrounds. many in the crowd were seeing SB19 for the very first time. to win over a crowd that diverse, they need smart festival pacing, undeniable talent, and professional execution, not over-the-top, forced theatrics just to satisfy your personal definition of "gigil."
kaya hirap na hirap tayong umusad sa international scene, eh. hilig ninyong ikahon ang opm sa sarili ninyong unrealistic standards, tapos kayo pa ang unang magrereklamo na stagnant ang industriya. kayo rin ang mga unang naghahanap ng mali, kahit wala naman kayong naiambag kundi maasim na opinyon dito sa x.
