Christine Jensen (formerly Smallbone) MBE is remembered as a brilliant campaigner and one of the #HeadscarfRevolutionaries. Member of the British Fishermen’s Association, a founder member of STAND, and in 2000 awarded the MBE. The city honours her memory and the lives she saved.

A statue in #Hull isn’t just a tribute to the past, it’s a reminder that ordinary people can force extraordinary change when they refuse to be ignored. The #HeadscarfRevolutionaries story has carried a mix of passion and determination that reshaped an entire industry.

I had a picture of the #HeadscarfRevolutionaries done in pastels. I gave it to Dame @DianaJohnsonMP and it now hangs in her office in Westminster. I’m proud that picture is now seen by MPs, visitors and staff in the very building those women’s safety demands changed the world.
