Dethrone the Despots I ran into a Ukrainian friend today. He saw that I was reading Gulag Archipelago, and he told me his father is in prison in Russia. I asked him: “Is it because he’s an honest, decent man?” He said, “They got his phone, and saw he supported Ukraine.” I had dinner with another friend, who works in the world of finance. He explained his new financial strategy: “Either global markets recover, or the world ends, in which case, you won’t need money.” I admit, I laughed at the truth in his statement. I thought to myself, there is another option. We dethrone the despots — no kings, no tsars — we need a global coalition led by the leaders of the free world to put an end to the tyranny being created by cruel and corrupt men who are doing everything in their power to stay out of prison. I draw additional inspiration from the country of Georgia, whose pro-EU citizens have been risking their lives every day for 487 days, because they don’t want to be governed by Russian proxies. I pray for the strength and courage of the remaining leaders of the free world to forgo issuing statements and hosting conferences.
