A Jan 6th reflection for American Christianity🧵. One of the central things we see in the gospel of Jesus is that those who expected him to overthrow Rome by force in order to “take the nation back for God” were disappointed with him and even ended up denying and betraying him.

@AuthorEdenC Nope! That was trauma induced. Once I healed from some of that I test as a 4, which is more in line with how I remember myself as a child. Crazy, huh?

For his 10th birthday, my son got a stomach bug. 😬😳

At 4 this morning my son crawled into bed. I did not say I was too tired. I held his hand snuggled and lost sleep for hours thinking about how this is a privilege some don’t have this morning. Hold those babies tight.

Tonight I met with the teen group I mentor. I asked what was going on, and one of the girls said, “Hard stuff.” I said, “What kind of hard stuff?” Another girl said, “Mainly existing.” Ugh. I hear you, sweet girl.

70-something miles. That’s the only difference. It could’ve been my town. It could’ve been my kids. I don’t have answers only pleas that we don’t jump into arguments or debates today.

There are no words when your neighbors are hurting in this way. There’s no understanding, only lament. Uvalde is close to home and our hearts are breaking.

Put my Transit up for sale and have 4 buyers in less than 4 hrs. Holy cow cars are hot right now!

@heidiamills Exactly! Definitely an excellent argument in favor of keeping them all and making every wall in the living room a bookshelf. 😂

I’ve amassed quite the library over the last 16 years. I’m headed to a large curriculum sale tomorrow and I’m having the hardest time deciding what to let go. For me, purging books is like saying goodbye to good friends. How do you do it?!

Things I ponder while I should be cleaning: If you’ve never hit a faith crisis and legitimately wonder if there even is a God, do you really have faith? 🧐

@AuthorEdenC I’m purging as much as I’m emotionally able to at this time. 🤣 It’s not nearly enough. I have so many from the school and my own library 🤦‍♀️

@heidiamills When we moved I purged about half my books, but it wasn’t easy!! I just made a goal that my books needed to fit on two 7ft bookcases and whatever didn’t fit would have to find a new home!

@theajennda I find myself thinking, “But what if I want to read this to my grandkids one day?”

@heidiamills So difficult! I *try* to choose the ones I read only once years ago. Even that's a challenge 😂

@HerbWiensAuthor Definitely it preferred! I’m sorry about that. I imagine that must’ve been traumatic. Maybe not losing the books, but losing everything… wow.

@heidiamills I wouldn't recommend this, but I disposed of a full 8' high, 10' long bookcase in one evening. Again, having your house burn down is not a preferred method. 🤔

Intent is one thing, impact is quite another.

@AileenWeintraub Physical copy. I will read on a kindle or listen, but I really prefer to flip the pages and go back to something I loved and underline. I’m old school.

What’s your favorite way to read books? Physical copy, kindle, or audiobook?

It takes as long as it takes.
