Reputation systems are hard to secure against gaming and Sybil attacks, and the validation leg of the standard is still emerging. Adoption of how many real production agents use ERC-8004 in live economic scenarios is the real metric that will determine whether this infrastructure becomes meaningful in practice.

What problem does this solve? Digital agents today rely on closed trust systems API keys, platform accounts, and whitelists that don’t scale across ecosystems. A neutral, composable trust layer on Ethereum enables portable agent identities and reusable reputation. This allows agents to move freely across marketplaces and workflows. Trust becomes a shared economic primitive, not a platform constraint. Reputation can then act as a pricing signal or underwriting layer in autonomous markets.
