I will tell you this for free today, to win first put money aside and leave a first impression... infact do the Job that will leave them looking for you and not think of no one else. In October, a client reached out to me but wanted me to show workings with a demo ...I completed the first and thought he will go ahead with the project, but he kept making promises while assuring me that he has me in mind. Nothing yet but asked for another demo while telling me that he spoke to some doctors and they wanted to see what I can do to ease their current pain point. Mind you, I was really having fun with the demos to gain experience with client's expectation...I completed it and sent to me, after that I did regular checks but no go ahead on any project, He came again in November after he saw a demo I posted on LinkedIn with softr and he asked that I do same for him but lightly and with automation, sent my quote and it ended in silence but he didn't hesitate to still keep reassuring me and check up. I have concluded this year not to reach out anymore and let him do when he is ready and fit, so I moved on. Last night while on my pc, I got a text from an unknown number which I eventually read and the person introduced himself as the CEO of so and so and mentioned he was referred by the other CEO that has been inconsistent with exactly what he wanted. We jumped on a call same last night and he didn't ask me for any qualifications or to check if I was fit... he already mentioned he has gone through my profile and for him to text me on WhatsApp means he went through my portfolio... I already got an edge due to a referral as the other person already complimented my skills, speed and attention to details. He jumped into telling me what I will be doing, mentioned it is a full-time role and he is looking for someone long term, and we began a pricing balance...he stated his price budget, I raised it a bit and he didn't argue with me which I felt displeased with myself for not going higher a bit for us to argue..lol I still don't want to ask for a celebration till I sign the contract but aside my price, it came with another offer which I have to accept to take the Job which felt like i was dreaming and had to ask God if this is real...but while I am yet to unfold all on these... The point of sharing is to tell you that "anything your hand findeth to do, do it with all your might" Don't say "because afterall i am not been paid" or no one is watching then you deliver shabbily. You never can tell who is who and how connected anyone can be... long story short, the same way you will treat a $1000 job should be the same for a no pay or less pay...referrals go a long way and no stress. The same man who linked me even said he referred me to many. 2026 is looking as I envisioned it for myself.
