All the stdts I work w/ are more than 2 years below grade level …the negative emotional impact that their reading struggles place on them can’t be overemphasized. They are in a system that tells them that they are the problem when in reality the problem is that 1 of 2

The three questions I most often get are: What do I think of Speech to Print? What do I think of EBLI? & Do I think Speech to Print is better than Print to Speech? In this article, I try to answer those questions: teachingbyscience.com/ebli-s2p

“……accommodations CANNOT substitute for reading and writing instruction.” This is talking about Middle and High School students. So, what can be changed? How about those Sturctured Literacy Clinics I’ve seen talking about for the last 2-3 years?🧐🤔

@DrTeresaSanders Although my 5th grade daughter is capable of learning to read, she has severe dyslexia and has not received appropriate instruction -- it shouldn't take a legal battle to get her into a therapeutic school specializing in dyslexia to get her what she needs. I won't give up on her.

Let’s talk about Trauma and Reading. What happens when kids aren't taught how to read? “Going to school day after day, week after week, for years while being unable to read or read well is frequent and repetitive trauma for the student.” -Steve Dykstra, psychologist 1/2
