Just heard the most accurate description of Columbus in a TikTok about what cities are considered part of the Midwest: “It doesn’t have the aura of a Midwest city… it seems more like a Starbucks inside a Target. That’s the kind of culture they’re going for there.”

Also the impending rebrand is 🚮 — it has such equity that it’s recognizable w/ just an icon and the word for a post is now common vernacular and you want to change it? Imagine if Starbucks made their logo an emoji and changed the names of the drink sizes for no reason. Just bad.

This place has hung on longer that I thought but I’m still sad about it falling apart. It was nice to have one place to follow all your circles of friends but now they’re going to different places, like it’s the end of senior year and everyone is leaving for different colleges.

I think this is why I’ve liked Twitter so much and am sad about its collapse. It doesn’t need me to be loud or flashy or to put my face on screen and I’ve enjoyed having a place that lets me show up quietly.

Thinking about the places I enjoy going to the most and realizing they’re what I’m calling “introvert-forward” — where being quiet, reflective, self-directed is the expectation, like • bookstores • art museums • movie theaters What are some others I can add to the list?
