@PaulTassi Destiny 2 is a global game that has built up an enormous player base over a decade — a feat that can never be replicated. Yet Bungie abandoned this long-earned community simply because of their childish, short-sighted strategy. Bungie is being absolutely idiotic!

@PaulTassi There's no denying that Sony or Bungie paid you a great deal of money to keep talking up Marathon. This kind of thing happens in other countries' game markets too. With hundreds of millions of dollars in marketing budget, this game really isn't going to die anytime soon.

You want a break from Bungie doomposting? Fine. Marathon ended up being a very good video game, especially given the time and resources it had in this latest iteration to turn things around. Deserves more praise than it’s getting and much less mindless hate

@PaulTassi Destiny 2 players don’t hate the game—they hate Bungie. They’re absolutely disgusted that Bungie abandoned them to focus on a PVP-focused game like Marathon. And it’s always been the PVE-focused players who have been the ones spending money on Destiny 2.

@PaulTassi o go all in on Marathon, Bungie has already alienated Destiny 2 players. We’ve been putting up with it for five long years, and now the next Destiny 2 expansion is being delayed just to prioritize Marathon. Do you really think this is fair to Destiny 2 players?

@PaulTassi Given Bungie’s current situation, do you think Sony will abandon Destiny 2? That’s absolutely impossible. The $3.6 billion acquisition included the Destiny IP itself. If they have to fight on two fronts, do you really think Bungie’s developers are capable of pulling that off?

@PaulTassi If you were Sony, would you keep pouring more money in? Total investment in Bungie, Marathon, and Destiny 2 is already approaching $4 billion. When do you think they can recoup their investment?

@PaulTassi But let’s not forget that the game has already racked up massive costs and expenses since its launch. If Sony decides to keep pouring money in, fine—but losses are inevitable. Besides, the acquisition of Bungie alone already cost them $3.6 billion.

@PaulTassi @SkyAsassino Destiny 2 has accompanied countless people around the world through their youth. It’s a game for a generation, much like World of Warcraft, which still has many players today. Bungie’s actions are digging its own grave, and it’s truly infuriating.

@PaulTassi @SkyAsassino Destiny 2 is an FPS MMO looter-shooter that leans far more toward PvE players, much like Diablo. Look at how Diablo still has a steady player base years after its release. You’ve underestimated the popularity of this game and the true value of the Destiny IP.

@PaulTassi @SkyAsassino Bungie doesn’t even know how to save the situation. Seeing how much money other genres make, they’ve started working on the Marathon IP—and that’s a strategic mistake. The root cause: arrogance is the original sin.

@PaulTassi @SkyAsassino As time goes by, more and more great games are emerging. Under Bungie’s arrogant management, Destiny 2 has lost its competitiveness. The doomsday clock for its survival is ticking, and now they’re panicking.

@PaulTassi @SkyAsassino But Bungie has taken advantage of the fact that there’s no real competition, growing lazy and arrogant. They think they can just stay in their comfort zone and do whatever they want. That’s why Destiny 2 players are getting angrier and angrier.

@PaulTassi @SkyAsassino Even if players leave Destiny 2 out of disappointment at some point, they will still come back to it later—because there’s simply no other game like it. Understand?

@PaulTassi @SkyAsassino Of course, the player count for new Destiny 2 chapters depends on Bungie’s quality. Giving players Diablo-like PvE enjoyment will directly decide the game’s long-term survival.

@GamerUPGaming @1234ABCDE1212 @DestinyTheGame So let bungie fall into the abyss, their development capabilities have been self-destructed, and what Destiny 2 needs is a capable development team to continue. Instead of giving it to lazy developers.

@hellzxcv @1234ABCDE1212 @DestinyTheGame Thing is, the people responsible for these choices are out from bungie since a while ago, they left the studio a while ago, but bungie is in such bad position that I dont know if they would even get the greenlit to D3 as bungie doesnt look as a sustainable studio at all

@GamerUPGaming @DestinyTheGame In any case, Destiny 2 is the base plate, and if their top management or Sony doesn't recognize this, let them slide into the abyss. In June, we Destiny 2 players will witness the end of all this.

@GamerUPGaming @DestinyTheGame I think bungie is already in chaos, some people think they should bet on marathons, and some people think they should return to destiny 2.

@PaulTassi I needn't cite further examples of how Sony's pursuit of service-based games has led to countless game IPs being shelved and studios being dismantled—Bungie won't be the last.

@PaulTassi Fine, then tell Sony to stop updating Destiny 2 right now! I'm telling you! Players pre-ordered the annual DLC, and you want to halt updates? Get sued by players? Go ahead and try it!

Sony’s gotta back Marathon for the long term. It’s a genuinely good game, has a unique place in the market, has a core fanbase already doing everything from fan art to cosplay. Rare new (“new”) IP win on those fronts It’s pretty brutally hard, but that’s part of the reason it stands out. Playerbase is not gonna be mainstream blockbuster level, clearly, but at this point you have to let one of these survive and build in time. Marathon is a good pick for that

@PaulTassi Within three months, this game you think is worth investing resources in will be declared dead. At that point, most of Bungie's staff can pack their bags and retire.
