@OldArmyNurse4 @JXakc @tedcruz Oh my. Bozo? You and many others don't know the history of Juneteenth; it has not been covered in history books or classes. But— there are many reasons African Americans selected 6/19, the date of General Order No. 3, to celebrate this freedom. I encourage you to explore more.

As we commemorate Juneteenth, we recognize & reflect on the blessing of freedom. Together, we celebrate the anniversary of Major General Gordon Granger’s arrival in Galveston, Texas, where he brought news of the emancipation of the enslaved. Today is a joyful reminder of our nation’s progress in advancing the principles of liberty & equality for all.

@AMayna57 @PGCMLS Ah. Good to be reminded that she packs quite a punch. For me, "dangerous" is most perfect in this string of perfect words, in capturing the madness of the majority.

Yes, buy the banned book but then SHOW UP FOR YOUR LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS. Voter turnout in local elections is dismal - let them know that reading choice matters to you!

I started Akata Witch, by Nnedi Okorafor, and was delighted to open to the first page and find a quote from Wizard of the Crow, by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, a book I love. Bodes well . . . #PgcmlsBookChat

@octopodiformes You have a while to go before you run into this, but I get called Mama and Auntie as honorifics (from certain demographics). To my ears, these signs of respect are still a bit awkward because I associate them with intimacy.

@AMayna57 #PgcmlsPoetry "We all bathe in the sociality of the hangover." This carries the theme introduced earlier of sickness, but this added so much for me about the poet's understanding of the illness he describes. It's really good. And heartbreaking.

@AMayna57 @PGCMLS #PgcmlsPoetry Grateful for the break in the first line, because, wow, I needed the moment. Wasn't sure what I was preparing for, but I was a little better prepared.
