Yesterday, a man was murdered in broad daylight by officers of the Nigerian Police Force in Delta State. Story: He had gone to a park to collect a parcel. The park leaders asked him to open it for inspection. Upon opening the parcel, they found a pistol and four live rounds of ammunition. They immediately restrained him and called the police. The police arrived under the command of an officer identified as Nuhu (also known as Ogbegbe) and were instructed to take the suspect to the police station. Instead of doing so, the officer opened fire on him, killing him before he could be taken to the station. The Force Headquarters in Abuja has ordered the arrest of Officer Nuhu and directed that he be brought in to face disciplinary action.

The CS to this post is intriguing. People were quick to bash the young genius’s research on human aging because they think he is trying to outsmart death. However, they are missing the point of what he is really doing. He is not trying to keep a person alive for centuries in a state of decay. The real deal is about the healthspan. He wants to use AI and physics to find the errors in our biology so we can stay strong and functional until the very end —the end that will never change because Death is the only constant that cannot be substituted. He is looking for a way to let people enjoy their lives without the slow and painful breakdown that comes with old age. He should be celebrated for trying to push the boundaries of knowledge instead.
Science girl@sciencegirl

A teenage prodigy in quantum physics is aiming to tackle one of science’s biggest challenges: human aging. Laurent Simons earned his PhD in quantum physics from the University of Antwerp at just 15. Rather than slowing down, he has already begun a second doctorate, this time focusing on medical science and artificial intelligence. His long-term ambition is to better understand aging and disease, with the hope of helping extend healthy human lifespan. He has described death as a complex “puzzle,” made up of many interconnected pieces across biology, physics, and engineering. His strategy is to study these layers together, using AI to analyze biological systems and identify patterns that would be difficult to detect otherwise. Simons’ academic journey has been unusually fast. He completed high school by age 8, finished a bachelor’s degree at 12, and went on to earn both a master’s and PhD in quantum physics years ahead of typical timelines. His doctoral work explored advanced topics like Bose–Einstein condensates, where atoms behave as a single quantum system at extremely low temperatures. Although highly theoretical, this research underpins technologies such as quantum computing and precision measurement. Now, his focus is shifting toward biology and medicine. In AI-driven healthcare, researchers are already using machine learning to improve early disease detection, model protein structures, and accelerate drug development. In the field of aging, scientists are investigating ways to reduce cellular damage, eliminate dysfunctional cells, and better understand how the body changes over time. However, experts stress that “solving aging” is extraordinarily complex. While lifespan extension has been achieved in simple organisms, applying those findings to humans remains a major scientific hurdle. Simons himself acknowledges that meaningful progress could take decades. Even so, his path reflects a broader trend in science—where breakthroughs are increasingly happening at the intersection of disciplines, and younger researchers are setting ambitious, long-term goals. Learn more: "15-year-old genius sets his sights on solving human immortality." Brighter Side.

What is this that you guys typed? His family members were at home, they witnessed everything. There was no crossfire from their account and we believe them. They said one of your boys jumped in from the back fence after compressing the barb wire and immediately he entered the compound, he went to open gate for more of your men. They went in to shoot the young man leaving his family in tears. A young man with his brain blown off while his siblings watched on. What kind of trigger happy retard are you training that they have no restraint for taking innocent lives? What transpired between Samad and your boys that made them murder him? Why are you covering murderers? Bring his murderer out. They have no place in the Army. They have no place amongst the living. Justice for SAMAD.

While going to Kogi last week, our driver stopped along with other cars because no car was coming from the opposite direction. Apparently it’s a sign of danger. We waited for over 10 minutes before we saw a truck and two cars, that’s how we started moving again. I wish deth on anyone who supports this government, Nigeria has been totally ruined.

Abandoned cars line our highways, people left home only for them to end up in bushes. That was never their destination, some are never coming back. Nigeria how long? How long will we endure this? How long till we vote right? How long must we suffer?

Brother, learning this early will save you alot of trouble: Never rush to defend yourself when somebody is lying about you. Instead, watch who believes it. Watch who's excited to share it. Watch who changes behavior around you. That's how you spot the weak links. Never hesitate to cut them all off. And once you learn this, never waste a second explaining yourself to people who are commited to doubting you.

Tunde is not hated. What is hated is the system he aligns himself with, and that, honestly, is not without reason. Growing up, I had neighbours, a man, his wife, and their three children, who lived a decent life in a comfortable home with their grandmother in the early 2000s. It looked stable. Secure. Then the grandmother passed away. What followed was a slow collapse. Extended family members came in, took over the property, and the structure that once held them together became a source of conflict. Over time, with rent prices rising insanely and no real safety net, the family could no longer afford to maintain a decent home. Three years ago, they moved into a slum. People don’t always become poor because they are reckless. Sometimes, it is systems, inheritance disputes, economic pressure, and broken support structures that quietly push them there. This is what a real advocate for children in the slum should be fighting, not merely managing poverty, but challenging the conditions that manufacture it in the first place: housing inequality, weak protections for families, and policies that make basic shelter feel like a luxury. Too often, even within NGOs, survival depends on the persistence of the problem. The chaos sustains visibility, funding, and relevance. And the uncomfortable truth is that the moment real solutions begin to emerge, some systems quietly lose their importance. That is the part nobody likes to say out loud.
