Messed around with Sora’s new character feature and ended up making an entire claymation halloween special. Every bit of clay, text, and sound is generated. Storytelling and creative potential just keeps getting crazier. Happy Halloween!!

we are launching the ability to buy extra gens in sora today. we are doing this for two main reasons: first, we have been quite amazed by how much our power users want to use sora, and the economics are currently completely unsustainable. we thought 30 free gens/day would be more than enough, but clearly we were wrong! this will let our pro creators get as much usage as they want to pay for. second, this is a step towards a new sora economy. we imagine a world where rightsholders have the option to charge extra for cameos of beloved characters and people. we will soon pilot monetization, prioritizing people and companies who got onto the platform early. this will also be a way for a new generation of sora creators to make money. eventually we will need to bring the free gens down to accommodate growth (we won't have enough gpus to do it otherwise!), but we’ll be transparent as it happens. in the meantime, enjoy the crazy usage limits :)

sora hit 1M app downloads in <5 days, even faster than chatgpt did (despite the invite flow and only targeting north america!)! team working hard to keep up with surging growth. more features and fixes to overmoderation on the way!

hearing people complain sora 2 become worse. this tends to happen when you see a new technology that blows your mind & you extrapolate capabilities to having solved everything then after some usage you realize everything isn't solved yet, but the model has not changed

sora update: cameo and safety improvements inbound! 1. cameo restrictions: we've heard from lots of folks who want to make their cameos available to everyone but retain control over how they're used. starting today, you can now give instructions to sora that restrict the type of gens others can make with your cameo. for example, "don't put me in videos that involve political commentary" or "don't let me say this word." to access it: edit cameo > cameo preferences > restrictions. see @turtlesoupy's tweet for more info. we're continuing to hillclimb on making restrictions even more robust, and we will add new ways for you to stay in control of your cameo in the future. 2. watermark: we are working on some changes to make it clearer and more visible. 3. model safety: we're tweaking our stack to reduce false negatives and catch loopholes. we know overmoderation is super frustrating, and we're working on that too, but we think it's important to be conservative here while the world is still adjusting to this new technology. 4. we fixed the issue where deleting your sora account would require you to delete your chatgpt account. thanks a lot for the feedback, keep it coming! we have tons of new features in development that make use of advanced sora 2 capabilities that we'll talk about later.
