@dave_or_chips @Brendennel How much of this is down to schools cup rugby and the must win at all costs mindset that players have ingrained in them from a young age. Kids are afraid to make mistakes and are thought to play a system from 12 years on, a system with no freedom to express yourself

@Brendennel We have a system which produces identikit players who operate very well within certain structured playing styles but that system also mitigates against producing players with genuine individual flair. And when we do (e.g. Zebo) we don't know how to use them...

Agree 100 percent. When the pack can't dominate they can't get momentum. Bordeaux were exceptional

@mrcolmcrowley It doesn’t happen in other top level sports and, if it did, there’d be several cards shown for involvement in that nonsense.

I know there is an ego and narcissistic streak at that level of game but it is nonsense stuff to be at. If it happened on the street you'd disassociate yourself from that shite and simply avoid those people in day to day life. How it is accepted in our games is ridiculous..

@TheLooseH This is the part that worries me the most. Leinster’s commercial success with big season ticket numbers was built on European success, as that dries up you’ll get a lot of disgruntled fans who will start questioning the value in their season ticket and then less revenue

Some of the replies under Leinster posts are off the scale. I know they lost. I know people are disappointed and annoyed. But still. So unnecessary.

@Caolan_Scully Munster would have been underdogs regardless of injuries. Carrying way too many bang average players that have been overhyped at certain periods, but it’s now really showing. Full root and branch review needed on and off the pitch

Munster's flaw in victories in recent years was being dragged through by Casey, Crowley, Beirne, POM etc This season however has shown a glaring leadership issue, with far too many dud performances Injuries made them underdogs, but a dire performance killed them tonight

@BrianODriscoll I thought the TMO had access to all angles and replays, regardless of tv production staff? Surely the bigger issue is how / why are TMOs missing these big moments.

@sarhsheg @jim_demps Spot on, too many average players in the squad who can put in the odd big performance but rarely manage to string several together. More worrying was the lack of fight and urgency for large parts

@jim_demps I’m not sure we can truly say that the players are good enough, the sad reality is that a good chunk of them are not. You can supersede talent with hard work and a bit of dogged determination, there’s only a handful of Munster lads who can claim they showed that today.

That first half is as bad as I’ve ever seen from Munster. Ever These are the same players and coaches that stuffed Leinster in front of 50000 5 months ago The players are good enough, the staff are good enough but this was just nonsense MacMillan was meant to raise the floor

@southymikeFFS There’s a few too many very average players in that squad. They can put in the odd big performance but that’s it, rest of the time they are completely ineffective and justify why Farrell never picks them. The more worrying thing today was that there was very little fight on show

@eoinoconnor28 @slatterywill 100%. JGP the single biggest point of difference. The tempo went up several notches when he came on. He had a rare poor game last week, but looked back to himself today

@slatterywill JGP by far the biggest difference maker! Instant crispness and good decisions.

Big bench impact once again Kelleher & Crowley particularly eye catching but JGP and Beirne bringing lots of energy too

@RyanSam1980 @FogartyJack The lack of a run threat is understated. The second JGP came on the Italian defence has to check itself as there’s always a half snip before the pass. Casey’s passes off the deck (and has a brilliant pass) but teams can read it and just don’t have to worry about him

@FogartyJack Unfortunately I agree. I loved Casey at 20s he was class. Looks decent for Munster but not intl class. He is too small, is average kicker and offers no run threat. He is still the best alternative to JGP but Devine is coming up on the rails.

Munster fans you need to answer something for me here. The hype for Casey is up there, I know you guys love him... But (almost) every game for Ireland he starts - he just looks half a second off the pace, what's going on for the guy? I really want him to push on. Clocks ticking

@jimFlanagan_ But it was ALL Sam’s fault…every dropped pass, every missed tackle, every messed up scrum (no denying he had a poor game, but the issues were much wider than Sam’s performance)

Really hate how every Irish game has turned into Sam vs Jack. Our scrum was horrendous today I’d argue worse than the South Africa game - we only got going when JGP and Crowley came on Loads of players escaping criticism because it’s being outed on Sam or Jack

@JulieGleeson4 @jim_demps Fair, but penalty was still correct as he tried to challenge for the ball not keeping his own body weight. Lesson learnt, in that position and that stage of the game leave the ball unless you’re clearly first man in.

Edwin Edogbo made 9 tackles in 10 minutes off the bench today. Really unlucky not to have a turnover as well. He’s the type of kid that you could build a team around - two teams maybe.

@killianbyrne @politicsandrun Agreed, but a part of me wonders if the decision had already been made that JGP and Crowley are the starting options for next week and the intention was to give SP some more minutes (which unfortunately backfired a bit)

@hessione @politicsandrun Crowley was good, SP made mistakes (this week's and last). Mistakes at 10 are very obvious, unfortunately for Prendergast. Putting SP back in today was a big risk and huge pressure that didn't pay off for either Sam or Farrell. I'd have started Crowley and brought on SP.

Did Crowley miss touch with the line at our mercy and a BP finish available? Dreadful stuff. #IREvITA

@allTxs JGP takes pressure of his 10 though with the snipe before the pass, just keeps the defenders a little more honest. Casey has that ability in his game, just need to show it more

@hessione Yeah, thought he was good in patches and actually suits Sam a bit as he tends to pass to ten earlier and as first option, but probably just lacks a bit compared to JGP right now alright

@Spearbrave1985 @Richie_Allen Kelleher generally a better scrummager than Sheehan. Sheehan’s height makes it easier for a good TH to get in under him and cause issues for us.

It's deemed harsh but here are some facts : - Ireland having two average coaches doing the scrum/lineout is why we're miles off it. Both wouldn't be employed in ENG/SA/Etc. - No 10 will magically fix everything. - We are in decline. - Depth is a huge worry. #SixNationsRugby

@FogartyJack Was really hoping for a big game from him today, but he was very disappointing. The gap between him and JGP is massive. The difference in tempo when JGP was so obvious.

@politicsandrun @killianbyrne I’d argue it was JGP that made the big difference, the change in tempo was very obvious (although Crowley was good and controlled the game better). The mistake at the end was an absolute howler.

@killianbyrne He did, but if he wasn’t brought on to the pitch it wouldn’t be a bonus point we’d miss out on. Shocking performance by Ireland.
