Owner of Dress To Impress Gigi has released a statement!! “Dear DTI Community, After stepping back to reflect and grow, I wanted to speak openly about my absence, the past, and how I’m going to move forward. Firstly, I want to say that I spent my time away self-reflecting and working on myself. I realized how much words can impact others, even if they were meant to come across jokes. And I educated myself to be more mindful of how my words can affect others. And I hope to show you all a more mature version of myself, who will still be learning and growing everyday. There have been multiple allegations against me over the past few years, and many of them happened when I was 14-15, I'm not saying this to excuse them, but to give context. There are things I did that I am not proud of, and I am deeply apologetic for. However, there were and there still is many serious false allegations spread about me to damage my reputation. Which is why I’m committed to owning up to what I have done and being more present and transparent moving forward. I feel a bit sad that many people see me in ways that do not represent who I truly am, but of course I understand that people will always form their own opinions, and I can’t control what anyone chooses to believe. But what I can control is how I grow from my past mistakes as well as show through my actions and over time, that I have grown up. I also want to address my appearance in our Q&A event in August. I know many of our community members felt very hurt and confused that I joined without any prior notice of my return. At that time, I was terrified of the hate or what people were saying about me and I decided to not communicate my return. I see now that just showing up without any communication after being away for so long wasn’t the best choice. I also want to address my “Clock it” comment, when I said that, I was referring to the picture of Lady Gaga playing DTI, and not about the things that were unfolding at that time. Even so, this was certainly a very immature first thing to say after being gone for a year, and I sincerely apologize. Additionally, I want to be clear that I was not endorsing any surrounding behavior or commentary regarding these events & this situation. And I’m genuinely so sorry for that whole situation and for the confusion it caused. I do want to try to answer questions in chat, but this situation was traumatic for me to experience because of the d**ath threats and harassment aimed at me at a young age. So I kindly ask for questions to be asked in a respectful manner. I apologize if I can't get to them all. Lastly, I want to say how much I missed this wonderful community! You guys mean so much to me and I'm very excited about coming back, chatting with you, sharing what our team is working on and listening to your ideas and suggestions. But I know it's been a long time and I know that trust isn't rebuilt overnight, so even if it might take a while, I'm looking forward to proving myself through my actions to show that I have changed. 🩷 Thank you for reading!”
