Taken together, we highlight 1) flexibility of MTL, especially CA3 & DG representations, 2) differences in object & scene processing, 3) functional heterogeneity of the longitudinal hippocampal axis, 4) complicated associations between uni- & multivariate brain activity metrics.

Lastly, univariate analyses revealed something multivariate methods could not: anterior and posterior subfields were differentially sensitive to feature overlap. Although both engaged in pattern separation, only anterior regions suppressed overall activity in response to lures.
