@Sivaram_V @batonianum @9MassHysteria9 @simongerman600 Gunpowder was put to military use the moment it was invented—far from the "didn't weaponize gunpowder" you claim. Ming weaponry indeed lagged somewhat, yet, it had a robust defense industrial base, such a gap could be bridged rapidly.

@Sivaram_V @batonianum @9MassHysteria9 @simongerman600 In 1522, Ming sent a spy onto Portuguese ships and obtained cannon blueprints, then crushed their fleet in the Battle of Xicaowan. The weaponry superiority cannot become an advantage in Asia; China had developed a sophisticated metallurgical industry since BCE.

In the 1580s Spain seriously considered conquering China. The plan was to invade via the Philippines, enlist Japan, and then march west to crush the Ottomans. Eventually Madrid realised this was a bit much and abandoned the plan. Source: bigthink.com/strange-maps/l…

The Ancient Maya world captured brilliantly in the works of English explorer Frederick Catherwood
Catherwood and his American counterpart John Lloyd Stephens travelled through Mesoamerica in the 1830s and 40s.
They documented dozens of lost sites and are credited with the "rediscovery" of the Maya Civilisation

Lerchner

Yoga will not lead you to higher knowledge.
At least, not in the way it once did.
The original path of yoga had the aim to awaken higher knowledge. But it belonged to a very different humanity than ours.
In ancient times, this path worked differently than it does today.
The human being was not yet fully individualized.
Conscious thinking was weaker, more dreamlike.
So the old yoga path began with the body.
Through strict control of breath, posture, and life rhythms, the initiate would transform the organism itself.
Why?
Because consciousness was still bound to the body.
Change the breathing → you change the state of consciousness.
Refine the body → you open perception of higher worlds.
This was effective… but it belonged to a different stage of human evolution.
The old yoga path is no longer suitable for modern humanity.
Not because it was wrong,
but because we have changed.
Today, the center of consciousness is no longer the body.
It is the thinking.
Modern humans are called to develop the “consciousness soul”:
clear, awake, self-directed awareness.
That means the path to higher knowledge must also change.
Not from body → spirit
but from thinking → spirit.
Instead of controlling the breath,
you learn to control your thoughts.
Instead of postures,
you practice inner stillness.
Instead of withdrawing from the world,
you become more conscious within it.
This is why Steiner replaces the old yoga with a new path:
Exact thinking
Moral development
Conscious inner exercises (concentration, meditation, retrospection,..)
The goal is the same as in ancient yoga:
To perceive higher reality.
But the method is higher:
Not by lowering consciousness into trance-like states…
but by raising it into full clarity.
In other words:
The modern path is not to escape thinking,
but to spiritualize it.
To think so clearly,
so consciously,
that thinking itself becomes a form of perception.
And it demands more than discipline of the body;
It demands mastery of the self.
