At the 9th High-Level Economic Growth Forum, I emphasized that efficiency is key; resources alone cannot drive development. Also a healthy population through disease prevention and health promotion is central to boosting productivity, reducing household disease burden, and laying a foundation for sustainable growth. Uganda should also put much focus on reviewing global partnership terms to shift from consumptive interventions to high-value investments, ensuring partners align with local priorities. Through joint planning, budgeting, and implementation across sectors, we reduce duplication, cut overlaps, and maximize value for money, strengthening human capital and national competitiveness.

In a bid to attract top students for a bachelor’s degree in education, the Government is set to make teachers among the top earners in public service. According to the plan, the basic salary for a science teacher on the government payroll will be UGX 8m a month, while their counterparts for humanities will take home at least UGX 7.5m. #OpenGovUg
