Maybe I should explicitly state I like RPGs AND Action-Adventure games... I have problems when games get called something they are not/were never advertised as. Creates false expectations. I hate to see a developer get unwarranted shit for something they never said.

This game is not an RPG. It was never advertised as an RPG nor explicitly stated as an RPG. Why are professional reviewers calling it an RPG?

Don't hate me for this but, I don't buy "poly" relationships. I think its just uglies grouping up for survival.

It is really crazy. I would love to see how Pearl Abyss did it like how Sandfall went and spoke on their use of blueprints in Unreal. I love their story about making the game shippable day-of release lol. I am sure we are very similar people in our interest here. The technical prowess of these developers need to be studied.

@SteamDeckHQ @LinuxMostly I wasn’t really a pearl abyss fan before this announcement. Their proprietary engine is pretty revolutionary I think. I can’t think of another game with this level of fidelity to scale besides Red Dead or GTA.

@hidethelemon @LinuxMostly ROG Ally has a better APU, so more power. ROG Ally X runs well though, that I can confirm.

I didn’t wanna beef tbh I just feel like when you mislabel a game as a reviewer, you create expectations that conflict with the developers intentions and in return it alienates players who expected something different. It’s really not that deep between us but there are users who are going to go into it thinking like that unfortunately.

@ByMFTN @hidethelemon In the end, let's just enjoy the game. Regardless, it feels like an RPG throughout, even if it's a more unconventional one due to the lack of leveling.

@SteamDeckHQ @hidethelemon No lie, I hate the "it's not an RPG" discourse in modern gaming. According to Twitter Purists most 90s JRPGs aren't RPGs.

@SteamDeckHQ What RPG mechanics are there? Charisma? Intelligence? Dialogue Options? From every preview and gameplay showcase I have not seen a single RPG mechanics besides maybe skills? which aren’t even specific to RPGs you can have skills in any game…

@hidethelemon We call it an RPG because it generally feels like one based on the mechanics and style.
