New Music Friday - (over 5 weeks).
Yung6ix & Vector - Never Have I Ever: awful verse from Yung6ix, Vector was the only one who did something. Another potential collab gone down the drain. 3/10.
Bayanni - Stick To The Plan: he needs grow and do something else, tired and repetitive.
Lil Kesh - Anini (Thief): a great song without the Anini reference or mention; Anini was a notorious criminal and shouldn't be glorified in any way. That said, Lil Kesh is so criminally underrated. 5.5/10.
Kojo Blak, Oxlade - Sailor: this is literally a remake of KU LO SA. Not entirely bad, but lazy songwriting. 3.5/10.
Priesst - Omo: nedded better chorus, 4/10.
Rnboi, Ayra Starr - Mon Bebe: missed the opportunity to bridge two genres and countries. There's no element of afrobeats from Ayra Starr.
Ayo Maff - God Is Working: Surprisingly good, and soothing thanks to the background singers. 4.5/10.
Tolibian, Yinka Ayefele, Bhadboi Oml - Ramadan: Lyrics aside it's a very catchy song and brings back the 2000s vibes and nostalgia. Different from what is heavily pushed nowadays.
Kunmie, Joeboy - Solace II: such a relaxing track, not enough emotional depth tho. 5/10.
Zoro SwagBag Ft Jeriq - Nzogbu: too noisy, and doesn't represent true Igbo culture. 1.5/10.
Angelique Kidjo, Ayra Starr - Aye Kan: the collab has n@ purpose, just vibes, which is disappointing considering how Kidjo is known to put out quality music. 1/10.
Ruger, Darkoo - Solar: too many samples wrongly used, only good thing about the song is the flow. No substance unfortunately. 2/10.
Boy Spyce, Falz - Arise: a good song for activism, Falz should've gone harder with his verse. 5.5/10.
Dj Big N, Phyno - I like to party: This is a huge miss for Phyno, too empty lyrically. 1/10.
Blaqbonez, Artsalghul - Hustle Kpa: good song, average lyrics, but needed better production. The beats was poor. 3.5/10
Patoranking ft. Buju Banton - African Soldier: The best collab of 2026 so far. Not a masterpiece entirely cos Patoranking could've gone a little deeper, however Buju's verse took the verse to an entirely new level. Amazing track. 7.5/10.
Ayra Starr - Where Do We Go?: Same old same old. No new direction or theme, though her flow was dope and the song has great beats. 2/10.
Mavo - Mofe: a kindergarten student can come up with better lyrics. A skippable song.
Skyla Tylaa & Ruger & Kitty Amor - Mean 2 Me: missed opportunity for a potential hit song; Featuring another singer (female), with a memorable verse is what is missing. Other than that, it's a nice song Ruger did good on this one. 4/10.
Dremo - Wife Material: the first verse is pretty awfu', and the second needed better writing. That said, Dremo's versality is truly commendable. It's a 1/10 song.
Victor AD, Patoranking & Jahmiel - Prayer Request II: on theme, lyrically good, and vocally soothing. However, not a song that can resonate with everyone. 6/10.
King Perryy - You Are Beautiful: failed to stay on theme the entire duration of the song; Went from inspiring to self-praise, tho still a dope track. 5.5/10.
Silent Addy, Rema, Skillibeng & Disco Neil - Ballerina: such a wasted opportunity. Too explicit for a song that's about ballerina, the song is an insult to such a respected craft and profession. 1/10 only because of the beats.
No offense.
