All I did was post about how I don’t see certain N1 grammar points often. I’ve worked in Japanese companies, I’m married to a Japanese person who doesn’t speak English, and I’ve played games like MGS1 in Japanese. I’m studying N1 to build on what I know. What’s the problem?

@Lobsteri_no You can search right now on Twitter and see people using that exact phrasing multiple times everyday (not in a quotation wa). It's also found in reports. The only time it's not used is in dialogue

@himaningen45 Don't see why you guys are being so pretentious about this. Not everybody reads novels. If you read more practical/non-fiction stuff you are way less likely to run into a lot of this grammar.
Also tbh a pretty bad way of gauging language proficiency

@OliverJia1014 You are saying that you have not read any of those at all. Which is pretty funny. You can do the same for other languages, I speak 3. All have different expressions in speaking, writing. I won't be complaining when I come across an unfamiliar one because im just inexperienced

@OliverJia1014 Going back to the initial post. You are literally complaining about how N1 is useless because it tests stuff no one will ever use. But it is in fact common in narrative fiction which isn't limited to visual novel is what I'm saying. Novel, Manga are also among them.

How do you think I’ve been able to live in Japan without basic literacy skills?
I read plenty, but not everyone regularly reads visual novels and encounters that kind of grammar in their daily life here.
Why do people studying Japanese insist on being this petty?
