Hello, this is Dareus. I’d like to make a small announcement regarding AKA Virtual ID’s current situation.
Before anything else, I no longer represent AKA Virtual in any way, including with this statement. When I mention “ID” or “Indonesia,” I am referring only to the Indonesian operational team/staff that worked within the company, not the company itself. This is also not an official statement on behalf of the team, but rather my personal explanation to give some closure to talents, fans, and former staff.
What happened?
Since February 2026, all ID staff made the decision to stop working with the company due to internal issues that I will not disclose publicly, though they have recently been resolved.
AKA Virtual ID was never originally built as a profit-oriented VTuber agency. For much of its early existence, it functioned more as a supporting initiative than a standalone business. I joined in October 2023 through JKT48V and gradually took over leadership of the agency after my predecessor stepped back. Starting in 2024, we began restructuring the agency with the goal of building long-term sustainability.
To be transparent, we entered 2024 with almost no incoming revenue. Even so, by the end of 2025, it became clear that the agency had genuine potential to grow into a healthy and sustainable business. The foundation was there: a dedicated team, improving structure, and clearer direction. Given more time and stable conditions, we truly believed it could become something much bigger.
Throughout this period, the Indonesia side continued to perform positively. Daily operations, talent development, and partner interest continued to show momentum, including from partners introduced through Japan.
There were also changes within the talent roster during this time. However, these changes DID NOT directly affect the agency’s ability to operate. While adjustments and adapting were necessary, the team remained optimistic about the future. We had already begun building a structure that relied less on any single individual or group and focused more on long-term stability. I’m grateful to every talent who was part of the journey, both those who stayed and those who left earlier. Their involvement or lack thereof SHOULD NOT be connected to the issues that later occurred.
So what were the issues?
Parts of the overall operational structure depended on processes outside the local team’s direct oversight. While relationships and collaborations continued normally, maintaining long-term operational stability under the existing structure became increasingly difficult. As a result, continuing operations in a fully sustainable and responsible way became more challenging despite the positive progress being made locally.
Even so, I remain proud of what the team accomplished. In under two years, what started as a supporting initiative evolved into something with real potential. It showed that a local VTuber agency can be built with care, structure, and integrity, and that with the right conditions, it could have grown into something even stronger.
The decision for everyone to leave was not due to a lack of belief, effort, or the talents/staff involved. Rather, it came down to timing, structural limitations, and the responsibility we had toward everyone involved. I hope what we built can still become a meaningful foundation for future opportunities, whatever form they may take.
Lastly, I want to wish the best to all talents and staff involved throughout this journey. As of this announcement, I have no plans to return to the VTuber industry and would prefer to return to being a normal salaryman/working-class person 📜.
I’m deeply grateful for the connections I’ve made with partners of other agencies/teams across the industry, and I sincerely hope the VTubing in general as a hobby and industry itself continues to grow into something bigger and more resilient in the future in Indonesia.
Thank you.
