Mejor solo keep scrolling and move on

I was rereading this today and I think it has one of the best ledes I've ever written—if I do say so myself!
Read it here: freepuertorico.substack.com/p/ritchie-torr…
And subscribe to my Substack for more writing about Puerto Rico!

@mooformoore5 He will, that's why I said right now, and hope Ward keeps this pace.
English

@hinmiami Alonso will heat up once the weather warms—that’s when his power really shows. But Ward has been an absolute steal so far.

Orioles Taylor Ward is quickly becoming a fan favorite in Baltimore!

@emily_giselle Difiero muy respetuosamente porque…

There's nothing inherently wrong with gringos choosing to live in Puerto Rico. The problem is the audacity of benefiting from Act 60 and then treating identity as something that follows automatically from residence. Puerto Rican identity isn't an administrative status, it's tied to lived experience and historical context.

Some people in Puerto Rico are apparently upset because I identified as Puerto Rican, despite my having lived here for almost ten years and raised two of my children here. However, had I identified as a Puerto Rican woman, they would have had no problem with my gender identity.

@DurgaOne @PRexitBook @PeterSchiff Contra españoles, chilenos, chinos etc.?

@DurgaOne @PRexitBook @PeterSchiff Thanks for your honest answer, I'll sit back and wait if this is true.
English

@hinmiami @PRexitBook @PeterSchiff I can only speak of myself and I will say that he is not puertorrican.
English

@playerodePR @PRexitBook @PeterSchiff Please answer my question, if he were from any other country in his same situation, living here, would that person receive the same backlash by saying he's Puerto Rican? Just asking.
English

@hinmiami @PRexitBook @PeterSchiff Even you is identifying him from USA and not from PR. He lives in the island, that's it
English

@PRexitBook @PeterSchiff The reason I asked is because most in this thread are bashing Mr Schiff just because he's from the USA. I don't think most from your side would bash the same comment from someone else from any other country.
English

@hinmiami @PeterSchiff Same. You can be of any other culture and ethnicity and live in Puerto Rico, that’s fine, and great, but you cannot claim to now be Puerto Rican because of your residency.
English

@PRexitBook @PeterSchiff What would be your opinion if Schiff were from Spain, France, Senegal, Russia, Canada, Vietnam, Japan, China, etc, etc, etc?
English

You are not Puerto Rican. You are an American who lived a few years in Puerto Rico (a U.S. colony and occupied nation). Puerto Rican identity is not comparable to the identity of a US state. Just because you live in PR like a colonial grifter and settler and have a PR driver’s license does not make you Puerto Rican. I seriously don’t care what gender you identify with, but you cannot claim to be a Puerto Rican when you are not. Too many people have died and suffered torture, death, and exile to defend Puerto Rican identity and nationality from failed U.S. assimilation policies. I’m glad you left Puerto Rico, we need less grifters and more Puerto Ricans. Please don’t ever return to Puerto Rico and keep my country’s name out of your mouth.
Again, you are not and will never have the honor of being Puerto Rican.
