The Cultural History of AIDS in Denmark

Vi har sendt bogen om Aids-krisens Danmarkshistorie til tryk. Vi kan slet ikke vente på at dele den med verden, når den udkommer den 23. oktober. Vi tog forskud på glæderne og havde glæden af at præsentere bogen på Kønsforskningskonferencen på CBS i denne uge. ❤️

It is published in the Danish journal for history, Temp, special issue on Epidemic History. The issue brings together an impressive range of exciting articles on different epidemics, examined from various perspectives. See it all here nordacademic.dk/da/publikation…

The article shows how HIV/AIDS policy became integrated into other existing developments, both in terms of Danish health policy and the conditions and position of homosexuals and lesbians in society.

In the Danish article "Aids concerns everyone," @tobiaswungsung examines the collaboration betw activists and politicians during the HIV/AIDS epidemic in DK. The article explores how different political and activist ambitions were attempted to be reconciled in the 80s and 90es.

At the CES conf. in Lyon, we have presented our research on the AIDS crisis in dk and discussed transnational perspectives with our colleagues from NL and UK. On the first day, Didier Fassin gave a beautiful keynote on European migration policy. #histads #europeanstudies

We are proud and humbled to be able to present and contextualize the history of HIV/AIDS to such dedicated employees. A big thank you to the AIDS Foundation for inviting us and for your invaluable work against HIV and AIDS in Denmark and the rest of the world.

This is because the AIDS Foundation is Denmark's most central organization for prevention, counseling, testing, and information about HIV, and it has been an important partner in our research for several years.

Last Friday, we gave a talk about our research to the employees at the AIDS Foundation @AIDSFondet. It was a very special experience to talk about Danish HIV/AIDS history to the AIDS Foundation.

Aloha! With a rainbow over the 4S conference in Honululu, I presented a paper on AIDS activism in Denmark and how race and sexuality have mediated the relationship between the state and civil society in the panel "Knowledges of HIV/AIDS in STS" by @marika_louise and David Ribes.

@nebeling presented the CHAD project in a roundtable panel entitled "Silences, fragmentary sources, and national histories: Narrating the queer pasts". Thanks to Riikka Taavetii and the inter-Nordic project Queering National Histories for the invitation and an exciting day.

Today, together with Finnish, Norwegian and Icelandic colleagues, we participated in an exciting seminar at the University of Turku on queer history, where @JustinBengry talked about the exciting project "Pride of Place: England's LGBTQ history".

Vi præsenterer også et essay om Rigsarkivets samlinger om hiv/aids, et om arkivets begrænsninger og etiske udfordringer samt et om aids og promiskuøsitet i fransk litteratur. Du kan også læse anmeldelser af aktuelle bøger om bl.a. hiv/aids, homoseksualitet og identitetspolitik.

Derefter indleder vi med 10 body maps malet af danske unge, som lever hiv i dag, der vidner om, at hiv stadigt er omgærdet med stigma, fordomme og frygt. Du kan også læse om den svenske og danske aktivistiske historie, om kampagnerne i Danmark og om PrEP brug og forståelser.

Forskningsgruppen er på skriveophold i denne uge på flotte Fuglsang Herregaard med dejlig mad og masser af tid til fordybelse og diskussioner. Vi arbejder på at færdiggøre vores første artikler, researcher på nye idéer og er næsten færdig med dispositionen på vores bog. 📚🏰😍
