💡Being Tamil is an ethnic and linguistic identity, not a religious entitlement. Tamil Muslims ane Christians are unquestionably Tamil, but being Tamil alone does not make anyone authority to redefine Hindu beliefs about Lord Murugan. Murugan has deep roots in Tamil culture, but he is also a living deity worshipped within Hindu tradition. Arguments about Sanskritization may be legitimate subjects of historical study, but they do not erase his Hindu religious identity across India or make Hindu devotion to him an act of appropriation. Just as being Arab does not automatically make someone Muslim...Arabs may be Muslim, Christian, Jewish or follow another religion, being Tamil does not automatically make someone a worshipper or religious representative of Murugan. Ethnicity and religion are related in some communities, but they are not interchangeable. Period.
