@DrLindaDykes @HalstedMD That combination of high K / low Ca could arise if whoever took the blood has contaminated the biochemistry sample with the potassium edetate from the blood count tube.

What is the most pointless statutory & mandatory training that you have ever had to sit through? Am looking to go for some of the most hardcore ESR training in decades. Hit me..

This is so weird to me as a British doctor. Philip or My Liege is fine.

@WelshGasDoc No guidelines, but would generally consider it based on the principle that, given a poorly RV, if the only other option is a ventilator then that's very likely to make them haemodynanically unstable in that situation anyway

Nice to see that Wales are ahead of England - we've had integrated health boards for about a decade! #sambristol

@zackferguson He's also on the Creon leaflets. Despite having had both a DVT and chronic pancreatic insufficiency, he still looks confident.

There is definitely no jam in tray 2. There's not even any marmalade.

@WelshGasDoc An increase in chronic illness will impact the whole health service, not just one part! It will probably be felt greatest in primary care. The difficult question is going to be exactly what the priorities for investment are - but agree critical care will certainly be one focus

@WelshGasDoc True (for acuity) if the concern is only CPAP/ICU capacity, but don't forget that the LOS for survivors over 75 who even just needed ward level care is often gigantic. If you want to get the _whole_ hospital working (and facilitate routine services etc.) I wouldn't overlook them.

@DrBenLovell Yep. Just goes to show why we shouldn't fret about offering HIV tests widely - we don't worry about offering troponin testing and a positive troponin has a far worse prognosis than HIV!

Discussing HFpEF at #SAMGlasgow. Left atrial size gives you useful information about long term elevated cardiac filling pressures, but what's the normal volume of the LA? @bsecho says <34mL/m² BSA normal, >38mL/m² BSA dilated, in between borderline

@WelshGasDoc In Outlook: Select the message Home tab > Rules > Always move messsages from: CTT_ESR_Team Select "Deleted Items" Sorted. The emails saying that you need to redo training etc come from a different address so shouldn't be affected
