@HormoneHangover @homewardnotes An ounce of beans to 8 oz vodka steep for 3 months minimum. Can do 2 oz beans per 8 oz vodka for that strong Christmas time kind of vanilla. Get the Grade A online, I get Madagascar beans for less than a dollar per bean. Oh, and use ~40% abv, 80 proof, you need the water too

I guess a bunch of people did tests and there’s not a discernible taste difference between expensive real vanilla extract and cheapo synthetic vanillin flavor in baked goods. Do not like this

@HormoneHangover My friend has had a vodka/vanilla bean concoction going for like 15 years. Maybe that’s why it works from her. I’ll let you know!!

@homewardnotes I have never been super impressed with my homemade extract I think because it’s never strong enough with the amount of beans to vodka ratio I do. But do report back if you do! I’m sure I didn’t do it right
