On the 14 Nov 1916 Melbourne College of Pharmacy student Eric Bisset in #WWI. In 2019 a posthumous Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) was conferred on him by @MonashUni. Just one name, among many, on our Honour Roll to remember this #RemembranceDay 🎥 youtu.be/mXK9wFFd8_E

On the eve of #ArmisticeDay @NotreDameDeLorette, the largest French military cemetery, I took a moment to walk around the Ring of Remembrance, where almost 600,000 soldiers of all nationalities are commemorated. A moving moment to reflect on so many brutally lost lives.

Thank you @couvedm. We remembered Douglas E Towl, who graduated with honours as Pharmacy Silver Medallist before being KIA & later his pharmacist uncle also died in the field. And of course we remembered Alan & Harry Couve, & the 5 Soldiers of #WW1.

From the captured cannons, weapons and machinery of war, the College of Pharmacy was awarded a German machine gun and sled, similar to this one in a pic from the @AWMemorial. Now lost to time, there is no records of its whereabouts (it was perhaps reclaimed for metal during #WW2)

#RemembranceDay After #WW1, cities, schools & organisations were offered ‘trophies of war’ proportionate to their sacrifice. A grim task of the College of Pharmacy was to collect our ‘trophy’ from enemy loot that was being stored at Royal Exhibition Building. (1/2)
