“Different people in different places can think the same thoughts at the same time. It’s an obsession of mine that people in different places think the same thing, but for different reasons. I try to make films that connect people.”

On ‘Two’ by Satyajit Ray: In 1964, renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray was asked to create a short film for Esso World Theater, a cultural showcase presented on television and funded by the American oil company Esso. ‘Two’ was made as part of a trilogy of short films from India commissioned by US Public Television. The other two films in the trilogy featured Pandit Ravi Shankar and a ballet troupe from Bombay. #SatyajitRay #Two #BengaliCinema #IndianCinema #TheStatesman [Satyajit Ray, Two short film, Two 1964 film, Satyajit Ray Two, Two movie analysis, Two film explained, Satyajit Ray silent film, Two class divide, Two anti war commentary, Two short film meaning]

John Huston on the acting performances in "Wise Blood" (1979): "There were seven outstanding performances in 'Wise Blood'. Only three of those seven actors have any reputation to speak of: Brad Dourif, Ned Beatty and Harry Dean Stanton. The other four are unknowns. They are all great stars, as far as I’m concerned. Nothing would make me happier than to see this picture gain popular acceptance and turn a profit. It would prove something. I’m not sure what . . . but something." ("An Open Book", John Huston, 1980) P.S: On this day, 47 years ago, "Wise Blood" (1979) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, France.
