Read @samikshassotd’s piece in the Telegraph below. She is the first year student who invited me to speak at UCL. Now she is facing the inevitable backlash for doing so. Her article is fantastic. Do follow her.

Because I believe in biological sex, my Union has labeled me a "potential harm". Today in the @Telegraph, I’m exposing the "inclusion" culture that protects those sending sexual threats while vilifying us. The price of freedom is popularity... and I’m happy to pay it. 🧵

A truly brilliant piece by Howard Jacobson. He expresses his fears about how England, the country he loves, is changing - and has changed - for the worse. In print tomorrow "What I didn’t expect was to find that I had written a lament not only for the Jewish people once again imperilled by hate and libels, but also an England imperilled by the same hate, an England willing to give it the room to breathe and made gullible by it, an England of furious, naive cacophony unrecognisable to a man like Ferdinand – let’s be frank: a Jew like Ferdinand – for whom England has been a place of sanctuary, kindness and intelligence, a country whose literature he has taught all his life and whose very grammar is an expression of its civilisation." telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/02/2…

Something is deeply wrong with our arts conservatoires in the UK. Not only was I a victim of this culture, Martin’s case is no way the only case @Freedom_in_Arts is supporting. There are ill- educated, bullying students being facilitated by poor adults and terrible policy. We are losing our best arts teachers to ideological witch-hunts and our artistic future is in jeopardy. I was cancelled by my music students for saying British jazz is not racist telegraph.co.uk/gift/bf69c555b…

Wonderful piece by @RevdRobByrne "Marriage and having kids shatter the illusion that we are built to do life on our own. Both are a standing rebuke to the individualistic adage so often bandied around: 'You do you.' As the African proverb goes: 'If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.'" telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/02/0…

Just to be clear about William Golding, given some of the comments on my earlier tweet: he didn't teach at a public school. His first job was at a Steiner school. Then he went to Maidstone Grammar, before ending up at Bishop's Wordsworth, another grammar in Salisbury.

I asked @giles_fraser to write after his church was broken into, and the thief was seen on CCTV dipping his fingers in the front. "The inner flame of 'my own morality' is not some internal combustion that can run forever on its own power supply. It needs to be replenished from without." telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/02/0…

Got chatting to the landlord of an old pub in Cambridgeshire and he got out his album of the day in the early eighties when the deposed Shah of Iran and his missus came to visit - and played darts.. Amazing
