@paulg it's a fallacy to think college is the best way to learn what you wanna learn. it teaches equations and theory, not understanding and building. all aspects are important. but understanding and ability to build are critically lacking in newly grads today

It's a fallacy to think you should drop out of college because you have an idea that has to be implemented right now, or it will be too late. If you stay in school you'll have other and better ideas.

Mini RF lab! VNA, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, power meter, and frequency counter without taking over the bench. This was a dream 10 years ago. Super useful for students and hobbyists who can’t afford professional tools.

@MehdiHacks embedder is great. import your kicad project and it does the bringup. debugs with gdb, saleae interface etc.

Do you use AI/LLM workflows in electronics or RF? Anything beyond chatbots; like skills, agents, MCP servers, lab automation, instrument control, datasheet parsing, simulation, measurement analysis etc. Has it actually made you more productive?

@chesterzelaya you're wrong. at least in defence context. most people missunderstand the purpose of swarms. swarms exist to overwhelm. no other reason is good, i agree on that. you gotta send more than the enemy can take out. without having a thousand operators.

the concept of swarm drones is so stupid once you actually have to take care of 10 autonomous drones at a time, you get annoyed and think "damn, if only 1 of these drones were smarter than the rest, i wouldn't need the other 9"

@chris_dalke The problem with CAN is the physical layer is so easy so designers love it but the protocol layer is awful.

When you were partying, I studied the CAN bus. While you wasted your days at the gym in pursuit of vanity, I memorized the J1939 PGNs. And now that the world is on fire and you come to me to help, I say… hell yeah I’ll debug the throttle control on a Friday!

@jimbelosic okey 0-45-90 layup? that could work as long as the part is cut in a multiple of 45deg.

@hpafrisk Our carbon layup is quasi-isotropic, orientation isn’t typically an issue except for cosmetics

@jimbelosic hi man, need some waterjetted carbon fiber very urgently. support says it's not possible to specify orientation. but this is critical when doing carbon fiber. part is unusable if fibers are not in correct orientation. any way to solve this? otherwise love the site!

Update on the footprint and symbol generator: Should have it up in the next 12 hours or so. Here's some of the footprints it was able to generate in ~ 5 minutes.

I'm leaving LA very soon. Anyone on Earth and want to meet? Maybe Miami, then Eastern, maybe West Europe. Probably meeting some ministry of defense people, maybe some engineers. 2nd order cybernetics. Working on becoming useful within 30 seconds to anyone, but nowhere close tbh.

You're flying blind in GNSS-denied airspace, you can't emit RF to avoid detection, how do you navigate to the target? Your handy Gravity Gradiometer measures the gradient of the gravity vector map-matches that fingerprint to a coordinate in space.

@IanRountree true that some governments have incredibly non-capitalistic purchasing organizations. thus the need for good sellers. heard many stories where they don't buy what's best or cheapest. but they buy where their old buddy works.

@IanRountree quietness does not cost to produce. it doesn't need more plastic, metal or pcb. it's software and design of propellers which are both one-time costs.
