Memphis Redbirds The Good: Tickets were $10 with easy and close free parking The Bad: Park has good bones but could use some TLC. Abandoned structures in the stadium not the best look for a city with a reputation for that Overall okay experience. Think it will be topped

Remember One Beale? We got the Hyatt Centric-solid, buzzing, right on Beale-plus apartments and retail that actually breathe life into the riverfront. But that Grand Hyatt tower? The one that could’ve put Memphis on the map with real convention space? Killed by a lousy five-million-dollar shortfall in city bonds back in 2022. Now we’re hearing NBA players whining about our hotels while the skyline sits half baked. Chance Carlisle delivered what he could. The city? Dropped the ball. Shoulda happened. Still could-if someone had guts.

LeBron complained about his hotel stay. You talkin about crime. Doesn’t LA have crime? Chicago? Atlanta? The only difference is those cities have luxury and extravagance and more resources to fight crime. You honestly think it’s cool for a black billionaire to shit on black city that’s struggling and that doesn’t have fancy hotels and restaurants. You niggas is lost AF out here defending that shit. It’s cool for everyday niggas not to like a particular place. But advocating economic harm to a black community is lame and I don’t see how yall can’t see that

LeBron James opened Memphis' biggest insecurity wound and everyone knows it. The reality: Memphis needs to improve it's reputation instead of throwing a hissy fit every time someone like LeBron or Stephen A publicly says what everyone already thinks of Memphis.

I’m cool with that and agree. My point is LeBron has a big voice and is making a big deal about spending 1 or 2 nights a year in Memphis, all expenses paid. What is his point in wanting the Grizzlies move to Nashville unless he has vested interests there… if that’s the case just say that

The world doesn’t have to care about Memphis, respectfully. I live across the border in Kentucky and probably would support a Nashville team it would be in a great city. They are tons to do there to combo with trips. I’ve been to Memphis several times and they just are nothing to do there.

Those are luxuries that billionaires want. Memphis doesn’t need a four seasons hotel or nascar or the luxurious amenities that bigger cities offer. Don’t you think investors would build if there was demand? Memphis does not have to cater to lebron’s extravagant lifestyle. He comes here to play two nights a year, sometimes one. If a 4-star Hyatt isn’t good enough for him, he’s lost touch with reality. To suggest moving the grizzlies from a predominantly black city to an intensely gentrified city like Nashville causes economic harm to an already struggling community. LeBron should do better with his platform.

@hrob_viii @JaredStillman What new hotels have they built that are luxurious and you don’t have to walk across the street? What pro sports teams have moved there? NASCAR? Like I don’t know any of the things Memphis has fixed that Bron personally mentioned.

@SainAsylum This! Bruh had an opportunity to be a leader in that situation. Instead he tapped into that mentality most elite blacks have and auditioned for acceptance. Bruh didn’t even sound the same. The code-switching was crazy work…

There’s nothing wrong with him not liking Memphis. That’s fine but to be on a golf course with your white buddies code switching and trashing the blackest city in the NBA, talking about how they need to move & pull resources from the the city despite its rich cultural history in civil rights and music is problematic, particularly when you and Nike released a sneaker inspired by & attempting to capitalize off Dr MLK and the Lorraine Motel. Also this man spoke about NASCAR, Vanderbilt and Hockey, things he doesn’t care about as a selling point for why the Grizzlies should move to Nashville. Bron doesn’t care about any of these things, he was pandering to his friends and that’s corny to me particularly when you’re trashing a city that played such a pivotal role in the civil rights movement. Sometimes it’s not what you do, it’s how you do it.
