The final tunnel boring machine, Karen, has started its drive towards #Euston – the last of 11 machines on project 👍. Named after one of the UK's first female train drivers, this is the final tunnel bore on the 140-mile railway between central London and the West Midlands🚄. To mark the milestone, two female train drivers from @AvantiWestCoast were invited onto the machine to drive it alongside the engineers working on the project. Find out more: gloo.to/FYeb

These photos capture the moment where our engineers successfully slid a 1,620-tonne steel bridge over the Grand Union Canal in Warwickshire. The 130-metre Longhole Viaduct was carefully pushed into position using a precision 'skid shoe' system and hydraulic jacks, moving at just 10 metres per hour. #HS2inpictures

New Video 🎥 - Last segment produced at HS2's giant 'viaduct factory' The last of 2,700 giant concrete deck segments have been produced at our Kingsbury Pre-Cast Yard in Warwickshire. Each deck segment weighs 85 tonnes and together they're forming the pre-cast segmental viaducts at Delta Junction. A 1.5-mile section of the Grand Union Canal, owned by the charity, @CanalRiverTrust, has reopened to the public – seven days ahead of schedule - after HS2 engineers successfully launched a 130-metre-long Longhole viaduct into position over the canal 🎥👇. The viaduct is situated just one kilometre from the north portal of the Long Itchington Wood Tunnel. When trains emerge from the tunnel, they will travel along the Ufton Wood cutting before joining the Welsh Road embankment, which connects to Longhole viaduct. Find out more: gloo.to/Fb9w

We've released new images of Birmingham Curzon Street showcasing the public spaces around the station. The latest designs feature a tree-lined promenade with landscaped terraces 🌳, improved cycling and walking connections 🚲, and a second entrance giving direct access to Digbeth and the east side of Birmingham. A landmark moment at Birmingham Curzon Street. 🏗️ Engineers have completed all 2,011 concrete piles that will form the foundations of the new station — each one sunk up to 24 metres into the ground. The team also excavated 47,000 cubic metres of material to create a level base for the station. With the piling now complete, attention turns to preparing the way for the Digbeth extension to the West Midlands Metro and the completion of the remaining foundation works. Over the last 7 days, engineers working on the Water Orton 1 and 2 viaducts have successfully completed the spans over the A446, Lichfield Rd, near #Coleshill 🎥👇. These viaducts are at the northern end of the Delta Junction and will allow southbound trains to join the spur into Birmingham Curzon Street and the rolling stock depot at Washwood Heath.

Set low into the landscape with a purposefully simple and consistent profile, the underside of the 800-metre-long viaduct will be just 3m above the ground, with 36 even spans crossing the river and surrounding flood plain. #HS2InPictures

Take a look at our latest construction progress 🏗️ Highlights include the successful excavation of all 23 miles of twin-bore tunnels on the opening section of the railway between Old Oak Common and Birmingham Curzon Street. Our engineers have installed more than a thousand concrete deck segments to form the 600m long Coleshill East and West viaducts across the B4114 (Birmingham Road) and the flood plain of the river Cole👇📷.
