Chris Holmes held his declaration ceremony at the Fratry, Carlisle on 28th March and is now the High Sheriff of Cumbria. I have had a really enjoyable and inspirational year and wish Chris the very best in the role.

During my year as High Sheriff I have had the privilege to meet so many wonderful charities & voluntary groups. I was delighted to be able recognise & 🙏some of these fantastic organisations at an Awards Ceremony & afternoon cream tea hosted by The Appleby Hub. #Cumbria

🏊‍♀️Kendal Leisure Centre is one of only a few leisure centres who have a Pool Pod fitted to access the pool. 🏊‍♀️I was delighted to be at the opening of a transformational piece of equipment which will enable so many people with disabilities to use the pool independently.

🏅I presented the High Sheriff Commendation Award to @BayTrustRadio on behalf of #Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch Association. An exceptional charity run entirely by volunteers providing a high-quality radio service to hospitals and the local communities 24/7

I attended the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial Comp at #Carlisle Magistrates’ Court. Five schools participated in #cumbria I was delighted to present the winners’ certificate to @keswickschool A fantastic initiative for young pple to develop life skills & build confidence.

🏅I was honoured to attend the @Rotary1190 Young Chef District. After intense local finals across #Cumbria & #Lancashire the finalists were whittled down to 9 Young Chefs. I was honoured to be there to present the prizes.

☕️I visited the friendly & busy Monday Warm Hub in Alston #Cumbria ➡️Up to 40 gather every week for a day of refreshments, entertainment, talk & advice. I met trustees & volunteers from several community organisations including Parish Council, Food Bank, Historical Society.

🥕Waste into Wellbeing @kendalpplescafe repurposed 33 tonnes of surplus food in Kendal in 2023! A team of 90 volunteers give their time every week to make nutritious affordable meals or collect, sort & share food through the Community Food Larder. 🔗 t.ly/aIdqu

I attended the public screening of “Roll Up!” a Snappy Opera involving Sandgate School in Kendal. An immersive, sensory opera inspired by contemporary circus 🎪 natural elements and ancient traditions of entertainment. t.ly/LDlMh #Cumbria

Attended the 2nd Maryport #Scouts Awards Presentation event & was honoured to present Wesley with the Chief Scout’s Commendation Award 🏅 for Meritorious Conduct. “In recognition of his quick thinking & actions which prevented his Grandmother lapsing into a diabetic coma."

When I visited Endmoor last week it was an honour to meet Year 6 and Head Teacher, Mrs Edmondson of @patrick_primary 🏫Lovely to see the next generation of potential volunteers at the presentation. Thank you for the beautiful flowers 💐 #cumbria

I met with Ian, Team Leader at Windermere & District Foodbank which is part of the @TrussellTrust network. A dedicated team of volunteers collate food parcel 3 times PW for delivery/collection. A vital service which relies on the donations & goodwill of locals🙏 #cumbria

An insightful visit learning about Project John - Homeless support for young people. ➡️They provide exceptional support in the form of supported accommodation & advice. Their Cavendish Street hub #Barrow, is to have a central service. 🙏for the tour & your valuable time
