@Ghebreyohannes U r right , but our problem isn't just the regim, it's the Civic vacuum. Most us especially the youth, haven't been taught the vital distinction between serving a government and being a sovereign people.

@Brad_Setser Sounds in the ballpark of my estimates. My back of the envelope math...
10% oil px increase -> 25bps of higher CPI.
70% rise -> ~2% inflation hike ahead.
Households typically cushion 50% of the rise with dissaving.
leads to 1% of drag on real gdp.
English

Strongly believe that the model calibration here is off.
With an increase in the oil price of $100 a barrel, the shift in income from US oil consumers to US oil producers is ~ 2.5% of GDP. Drag from reduced consumer spending imho is at 1 pp of GDP

Bloomberg Economics: In a scenario where oil hits $170 (strait closed for 3 months) before returning back to $100 by year end, how big is the modelled shock? US inflation +1.6%, US GDP -0.3% UK inflation +1.9%, UK GDP -1.1% EZ inflation +2.0%, EZ GDP -1.2%

How do you find the area of a curvy shape?
Long ago, figuring out the exact space inside a curved shape was a massive puzzle for mathematicians.
A 19th-century mathematician, Bernhard Riemann, came up with a great trick, now called the Riemann Sum. Since measuring curves is hard, his idea was to fill the space with shapes that are perfectly easy to measure: straight rectangles!
Here is how the trick works:
Slice it up: Imagine drawing a bunch of tall rectangles standing side by side under the curve.
Make them skinny: If you use really skinny rectangles, you can pack more of them in. The skinnier they are, the better they hug the curve, giving you a much closer guess of the real area.
Set the height: To decide how tall each rectangle should be, set its top edge to touch the curve.
When you add the areas of all those rectangles together, you get a fantastic estimate of the total space under the curvy line.
This simple idea, breaking an impossible, continuous shape into tiny, easy pieces, is the secret foundation of calculus.
If you could keep making those rectangles thinner and thinner until you had an infinite number of them, your estimate would magically become the exact, perfect area.

Derik Queen has played < 25 minutes in 21/37 games (56.8%) in 2026
The pick NOP traded to draft him is currently projected #8 overall, which could be one of:
Cam Boozer
Darius Acuff
AJ Dybantsa
Caleb Wilson
Keaton Wagler
Mikel Brown Jr.
Darryn Peterson
Kingston Flemings

@aarojas51 @Underdog 😭😭😭 that is not how math works lmfao
I’ve never seen someone so loudly confident while being incorrect.
It’s the probability that AT LEAST ONE of those picks makes the top 4, so the formula would be P(A) = 1 - (1-P1)*(1-P2)
So they have a 39.05% chance of getting top 4 pick
English

@Marcell0zuna @Underdog Okay, I’m wrong on the %.
Still puts them in the sixth spot and outside the top 4.
Thanks for the math.
Still not proving me wrong on the overall statement.
