Huawei

Today, H.E President Dr. @WilliamsRuto hosted the Kenyan winners of the Global Huawei ICT Competition at State House, Nairobi, and personally presented awards to each of the nine students and three lecturers who represented our country at the global finals in Shenzhen, China. I thank the President for honouring these young Kenyans and for launching the 11th Edition of the competition, for which Kenya is the first country in the world to open registration. This achievement carries a special meaning for our Ministry: our winners came from seven universities, a team from PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute became the first from a TVET institution to reach the regional finals, and an all-women team from JKUAT won Second Prize in the Computing Track alongside the Women in Tech Award. The digital talent pipeline we are building is wide and inclusive. The Ministry will continue to expand digital skills opportunities to more universities and TVET institutions across the country. To every student in our universities, colleges and TVET institutions: registration for the 11th Edition is now open, and I encourage you to sign up and compete. I thank Huawei Technologies, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, our Vice Chancellors, Principals and lecturers for their partnership in developing Kenya's digital talent.
