It’s not just that they comment on managers, that’s fine. But, they really believe that they can confidently predict the future for what a manager would achieve. Gary and Paul, if you know so much about management go and get a job. I am sure Salford can give you an appointment.

Antony has 31 G/A this season so far, why don't Man Utd fans want him back? Why Rashford only?

The way Neville & Scholes talk, you’d think they were master tacticians. They were abject disasters in management. Lost all respect for them. They’re just bitter, jealous relics who love the sound of their own voice and put their own personal agendas before the club.

Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, they have zero affinity with Manchester United now. They're arrogant, almost to the point of basking in the club's failures. Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, Wes Brown, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Patrice Evra, many others, they all have that unconditional love. The Overlap has completely changed since they were invested in by Global in January. I don't even want to quote their posts anymore & give them what they want. Whatever care the others have, it is well & truly secondary to their own personal agendas & grievances.

🚨🎙️ | Paul Scholes on Michael Carrick: "The only thing he has REALLY done is play Kobbie Mainoo and play people in the right positions. "What we've seen from the other managers, the team were all over the place. There was a system that they had NO idea how to play. "They've got four good forwards that get you out of a LOT of trouble at times. And I still see issues right through the middle of the pitch... Every time there's a problem with #mufc, it's right through the middle of the pitch. "The Szoboszlai goal... Every goal they concede seems to be like that. Now, I don't think we'll know about Michael until we get to November, December..." [@WeAreTheOverlap]

“Micheal Carrick’s football is not sustainable”. “Ruben Amorim had more possession, xG and structure” as if football is won on spreadsheets instead of the pitch. All that shit means nothing if the system doesn’t maximise the players you actually have. Michael Carrick understood that better than Amorim. Instead of forcing players into a rigid ideology, he has adapted to their strengths. Quicker transitions, compact shape, vertical attacks and allowing creative players to decide games in moments. That is coaching. That is the Manchester United way. What “sustainable tactics” did Carlo Ancelotti use to win league and Champions League? What “sustainable tactics” did Jose Mourinho use to build a title winning side? What “sustainable tactics” did Zinedine Zidane use to win multiple Champions League? These people built around individuals rather than obsessing over control. They were ruthless without needing 70% possession. They won by managing moments and personalities, not chasing aesthetic superiority. Micheal Carrick will only get better with more quality in the team and as long as he’s getting results, I’ll continue to him.

If Nagelsmann joined United mid season and finished 3rd while beating City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea along the way, nobody would be talking about the style of play. He’d be praised as genius who adapted instantly to the Premier League and outcoached the best managers. Tell me I’m wrong?
Martien 🇳🇱@MartienBall

The crazy thing is that if he wasn’t a United legend and if people didn’t still have trauma from the Ole era, the narrative around Michael Carrick would be completely different.

I have noticed something. When pundits have nothing to say they bring “style of play” and “patterns of play”. Just easy money for them. It’s the pundit’s job to find what a manager is trying to do. If the manager has no plans whatsoever, they would lose every game at this level. Don’t be lazy. Do some analysis and find out what the manager is doing. If you don’t understand football at that level then leave your job.
