@extremetemps This old record coincided with the May 1987 "heatwave" in Iceland - and might therefore be correct - even if it looks "wrong".

@hungurdiskar yes it was somehow disqualified. I ll ask the man in charge in the DMI for Greenland to have a look again if metadata is correct or not.
anyway today more records fell: Daneborg >11C and many records of high minimums including Scoresbysund itself.

EXCEPTIONAL WARMTH IN GREENLAND
While the 19C in the West are not records for May, the colder Eastern coast is seeing unprecedented warmth.
Ittoqqoqortormiit (Scoresbysund) reached +10C for the first time in May (data from 1958), and also +11,+12 and +13.0C at the same time!

@ThierryGooseBC @storieduniverse @Vedurstofan @severeweatherEU @ExtremeMeteo @SergeZaka It is not a standard station - it is used for monitoring avalanche conditions near a steep slope - such stations occasionally report very high temperatures due to background radiation - far higher than the ambient temp. Not included in record considerations.

@katagla Var á vakt á hlýjustu sumarnótt sem komið hefur í Reykjavík, lágmarkshitinn var 18 stig. Sátum úti á svölum mestalla nóttina - ógleymanlegt með öllu.

Iceland: the only anomaly on the edge of a Europe heating up fast, in a climate shifting rapidly on a geological timeframe. The fact that Iceland was cooler than normal may also indicate other ocean mechanisms at work.

@ThierryGooseBC It is barely a lack of interest in your posts - rather the flood of irrelevant posts from people that I have never followed that is drowning everything weather and climate related - there is some major change of algorithm involved.
